Las Vegas, NV - Sunshine Millions Day at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida comes our way this Saturday, January 18. The main event on the schedule is the Sunshine Millions Classic - a 1 1/8 mile test for horses four years old and upward. A nice purse of $400,000 will be on the line for this listed stakes.
The Florida Sunshine Millions Classic has attracted a field of just six for race 6 on Gulfstream's packed Saturday card. Post time is 5:03 PM. Let's take a look into the past performances of all six entries for this lucrative stakes race - all of which will likely be chasing Much Mach Man.
Mucho Macho Man - is coming off the biggest win of his life - an impressive score in the Breeders' Cup Classic after looking terrific in his previous 11 starts overall as well - five wins, two second, three thirds and 1 unfortunate DNF at last year's Sunshine Million Classic at Gulfstream in January. He had a win in the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes here September 28 after a good third in the Grade 1 Whitney Invitational at Saratoga August 3 and a third in the minor Criminal Type Stakes at Belmont Park in June. He also had a good second to Fort Larned in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic. Mucho Macho Man had only five starts last year for trainer Katherine Rivto and will be out to avenge his one poor result. Mucho Macho Man has eight wins, five seconds and six third place finishes in 23 career starts and has been at or near the top in every race the last two years - except this one last year! He won this race in 2012 and is the overwhelming favorite Saturday to not only finish, but win the Sunshine Millions Classic for the second time in three years. Legend Gary Stevens will get the call from post 4.
Gourmet Dinner - had some success on this track in 2011 - a third in the Grade 3 Holy Bull and a second in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes but he has not been the same since. He had a win in an Allowance two back and three third place finishes in his last four starts including the Broad Brush Stakes at this distance at Laurel Park December 7. Gourmet Dinner is the only other graded stakes winner in the field, enters in decent form and is the only real perceivable threat the Much Macho Man. He has finished ahead of Mucho Macho man in their only two previous meetings - adding a little intrigue.
Bernie the Maestro - Michael Maker trainee finished tenth in last year`s Sunshine Millions Sprint but has gone on to win five of his next nine starts. He is coming off a sixth as favorite in a Starter Stakes here December 7 after a win in the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial at Indiana Downs in October.

Joshua's Comprise - is coming off a seventh place finish in the Harlan's Holiday Stakes here December 22 but has placed in one of his last six - a third in the Quality Road Stakes on this track in October. Joshua's Comprise finished an OK fourth two back in the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Handicap but hasn't looked great otherwise.
Decaf Again - Barry Rose trained gelding has an astounding 94 career starts with just eight wins, 11 seconds and 14 third place finishes. He finished fifth in this race last year and had one win in 16 starts since. He is coming off a seventh in a Starter Optional Claiming January 5.
Rule Number Six - has 25 career starts with just four wins but has failed to place in seven straight. Before that was three straight wins including a Starter Allowance on this track in March. He moves back to dirt from turf looking for a little spark.
