Miami Mile Handicap 2015 at Gulfstream Park

Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Miami Mile Handicap is scheduled for this Saturday, April 25 from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Horses three years old and upward will be featured when they take to Gulfstream's turf track and race one mile for the winner's share of the $100,000 purse.

A field of 10 plus one Main Track Only entry will give it a go in the Miami Mile - race 9 on Gulfstream's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:00 PM. Let's take a look into the past performances of all 11 possible combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.

2015 Miami Mile Handicap Race Favorite Entries

Grand Tito - won last year's Miami Mile in April and since has 11 starts with a win (an Allowance in August), three seconds (the Grade 3 Canadian Turf here February 21, the minor Skip Trial Stakes at Gulfstream in July and in the Grade 2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes in January) and three thirds - one coming last time out in the Grade 3 Appleton Stakes on this track March 28, one in the The Vid Stakes at Gulfstream Park in September and the other coming in November in the Grade 3 Tropical Turf Handicap at Gulfstream Park West. He's also had some unflattering results in there too. Grand Tito has placed in four of his last five starts - all graded stakes and hopes for his first win since August (eight starts) from gate 6 with Edgard Zayas aboard.

Middleburg - Christophe Clement pupil races in stakes company for the first time Saturday. He enters off consecutive Allowance Optional Claiming scores - the last by three quarters of a length on this track March 29. Before that were four straight runner-up finishes in similar races. Middleburg has placed in 11 of 12 career starts - four wins, five seconds and two third place finishes and looks more than ready for his step up in competition. Jose Lezcano has the mount aboard the 119 pound co-highweight from the rail.

Miami Mile Handicap 2015 | Remaining Contenders

Shatak - George Weaver trainee has three wins and two third place finishes in eight career starts and enters on a two race Allowance win streak in this track- the last coming April 3. He had failed to place in his previous two but has looked good in his most recent starts. Shatak makes his stakes debut Saturday having won three of his four career starts at Gulfstream from gate 4 with Eddie Castro guiding him.

Storming Inti - three time stakes winner won four straight races in the winter of 2013/2014 and went on to a third in the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes in March of last year. He has been OK since - a second in the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs in May being his best result. Last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here March 6 after a sixth in the minor Better Talk Now Stakes at Saratoga in August, and consecutive third in minor stakes action - the Sir Cat Stakes in July and the Penn Mile in May. He has failed to place in his last two starts but has shown good form in the past. Storming Inti hopes to get back to the form he showed at this time last year - with Leandro Goncalves in the reins from post 7.

Adios Nardo - finished second in the Grade 3 Colonel E. R. Bradley Handicap at Fair Grounds in January, 2014 during a stretch of five wins and four runner-up finishes in nine races. He hasn't quite been the same since - last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Fair Grounds March 8 after a third and a fourth respectively in similar races on that same track this past winter. Adios Nardo has eight wins, four seconds and three third place finishes in 29 career starts and hopes to channel his 2013/2014 form this week. Manoel Cruz will be in the saddle from gate 2.

Inchcape - improving Jason Servis trainee enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score here March 7 after a second in a similar race also on this track January 17. He has 15 career starts with three wins, five seconds and three third place finishes and races in stakes company for the first time having posted a win and two runner-up finishes in his last four starts overall. Gabriel Saez rides from gate 10.

McIlroy - races in stakes company for the first time having posted consecutive runner-up finishes - an Allowance Optional Claiming April 3 and a Claiming in February. He won two of three start before that - a Claiming in October and an Allowance in August. McIlroy also had a three race win streak at this time last year so we know that he has some speed. He lines up in gate 8 with Tyler Gaffalione in the saddle hoping to make a little noise in his stakes bow.

Rerun - Chad Stewart trained gelding made his graded stakes debut January 24 and finished fifth in the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes and followed that with an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out at Tampa Bay February 25. Before his stakes debut he recorded four wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 13 career start including a second and a fourth respectively in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races and a sixth in the minor Flying Pigeon Stakes at Gulfstream. He also had a pair of Allowance wins at Tampa Bay Downs around this time last year. Rerun looks for his first stakes score Saturday with Jose Carabello in charge from post 3.

Hammers Terror - multiple stakes placed Michael Maker pupil races in graded stakes company for the first time for the first time since a third place finish in the Grade 3 Hanshin Cup in May of 2013. He has placed in his last five starts - a win last time out in a Claiming here March 19 followed consecutive thirds in similar races this past winter, another Claiming score on this track in December and a second in an Allowance at Churchill Downs in November. He has eight wins, two seconds and six third place finishes in 29 career starts and enters in decent form. Edgar Prado fides from post 5.

Sette E Mezzo - finished eighth in the 2012 Miami Mile when it was held at Calder and has just six starts since. He enters having placed in five straight races - a win five back in a Claiming, a second in a Claiming in March and three straight third place finishes at Tampa Bay ahead of this race. He steps in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday from post 9 with Gary Wales aboard.

Red Vine - Main Track Only entry Christophe Clement pupil has four wins, five seconds and four third place finishes in 15 career starts and has two straight Allowance Optional Claiming scores ahead of this race. He has placed in his last four starts and may make his stakes debut Saturday.
