Lexington Stakes 2015 at Keeneland

Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Coolmore Lexington Stakes comes our way this Saturday, April 11 from Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky. A purse of $250,000 and 10 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby will be on the line for horses three years old willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Keeneland's dirt track.

Seven three year olds will line up in the Lexington Stakes - race 10 on Keeneland's busy Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:18 PM. Lets' take a glance at the past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 3 stakes - the last chance for horses to gain points toward the Run for the Roses May 2. None of Saturday's entrants are expected to compete in the Kentucky Derby however.

2015 Lexington Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Divining Rod - races for the fifth time for trainer Arnaud Delacour and is coming off a third behind Carpe Diem in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby March 7, a good second in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes in January and a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming December 26. This after breaking maiden at first asking - at Laurel Park November 21. He has placed in all four career starts - competitive every time out and looks like the one to catch this weekend. Julien Leparoux will get the call aboard this competitive colt from the rail.

Tiznow R J - Steve Asmussen trained colt broke maiden December 11 by an impressive 13 lengths in his third career start and went on to a respectable third behind International Star in the Grade 3 LeComte Stakes in January. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby March 22 which followed a seventh in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds February 21. Tiznow R J has a win and three third place finishes in six career starts but has failed to place in his last two overall. Robby Albarado gets the call Saturday as Tiznow R J looks to break through in graded stakes company from gate 4.

Fame and Power - Bob Baffert trained colt makes his stakes debut after five MSW starts produces a win and two second place finishes - the win coming last time out by 4 1/2 lengths in gate-to-wire fashion at Santa Anita March 8. Fame and Power is an intriguing prospect for sure and makes a gigantic leap up in competition Saturday when he leaves from gate 6 with Irad Ortiz in the reins.

Comfort - Todd Pletcher trained colt has just three career starts with one win. He makes his stakes debut off a maiden score - by 4 1/2 lengths at Fair Grounds February 12 and consecutive fourth place finishes to start his career - also at Fair Grounds. Comfort takes a huge jump up in competition Saturday with Javier Castellano guiding him from gate 2.

Henry Jones - D. Wayne Lukas trained colt makes his stakes debut Saturday having recorded two wins and a third place finish in five career starts. He enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Oaklawn Park April 1, a third in an Allowance on this track in October and a maiden score in September in his third career start. Henry Jones has won two of his last three and should be ready for his stakes bow. Paco Lopez gets the call from post 5.

Quimet - Nick Zito trained gelding has six career starts with a win, a second and a third place finish. He made his graded stakes debut March 28 and finished a distant eighth in the Grade 1 Florida Derby after a respectable third in the minor Islamorada Handicap March 6, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 4 and a Maiden Claiming score January 1 - all results at Gulfstream. He will add blinkers for the first time an looks for his first stakes win Saturday with Jose Lezcano in the irons from post 3.

Donworth - will make just his second career start for trainer Graham Motion - the first was a good one - a maiden score at Gulfstream Park March 14. Joel Rosario gets the call aboard this largely unknown entry from the outside post 7.
