Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Last Tycoon Stakes comes our way from Santa Anita in Arcadia, California this Saturday, April 25. A group of horses three years old and upward will take to Santa Anita's turf track and race 1 1/4 miles looking for the winner's share of the $100,000 purse.

A field of eight will give it a go in the Last Tycoon - race 8 on Santa Anita's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:00 PM. Let's take a glance into the past performances of all eight combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.

2015 Last Tycoon Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Quick Casablanca - defending champion in this race Ronald McAnally trained Argentinean trained entry had 11 starts in Argentina with three wins, six seconds and two third place finishes. He won two of his last three starts in Argentina before shipping to North America including a Grade 1 race at Hipodromo Argentino De Palmero last March. He recently returned to action after nine months away and finished eighth in the minor Thunder Road Stakes here April 4. Before the layoff Quick Casablanca was very good - a second in the Grade 2 San Juan Capistrano Stakes here in June followed a third in the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes in May and a victory in the 2014 edition of this race. Quick Casablanca hopes to return to the form that saw him become very competitive last year when he leaves from post 7 with Gary Stevens aboard.

Abbey Vale - Irish bred Phil D'Amato trained gelding had a win, four seconds and a third place finish in 15 starts at home before shipping. He has won two of three starts in North America - both Allowance Optional Claiming races on this track (the last coming March 27) with a DNF sandwiched in there. He hopes to break though in stakes company for the first time Saturday with Tiago Josue Pereira in the irons from the outside post 8.

Big John B - won six of 11 starts last year with a third place finish in there - four straight victories this past summer - the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap August 23, an Allowance Optional Claiming by 7 1/4 lengths, a Starter Handicap June 29 and a Claiming score in May. Last time out was a ninth place finish in the Breeders' Cup Turf which followed a respectable third in the Grade 2 John Henry Turf Championship here September 28 and the Del Mar Handicap score. Big John B has 30 career starts with 11 wins, five seconds and four third place finishes and will be hoping to rebound from his Breeders' Cup experience. Mike Smith rides in Big John B's first starts since November from the rail.

Power Foot - has 21 career starts for trainer Neil Drysdale with four wins and five third place finishes - just one win in five starts last year. He is coming off consecutive respectable thirds - in the Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes last time out March 31 and behind Finnegans Wake in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes here February 7. Those thirds followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score here January 8 and consecutive fourths to end his 2014 campaign - the Grade 2 Hollywood Turf Cup in November and the minor More Than Ready Mile in September. Power Foot has placed in his last three starts and looks good ahead of this weekend. Rafael Bejarano will be in the saddle from gate 2.

Ganesh - Brazilian bred Richard Mandella trainee won three straight stakes races at home including a Group 1 in September and two Group 2 races before shipping to North America. He made his anticipated debut here April 4 and finished a somewhat disappointing fifth in the minor Thunder Road Stakes on this track. Ganesh has 21 career starts with seven wins, two seconds and a third place finish and was in the best form of his career before last time out. Flavian Prat has the call from post 3 Saturday looking to make a little noise on North American soil.

Joes Blazing Aaron - Robert Hess trained gelding has 38 career starts with seven wins, three seconds and four third place finishes. He enters off a disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes here March 21 which followed a stretch of three wins, a second and a third place finish in his six starts - no stakes. He finished fourth in the 2014 Grade 2 Pan American Stakes and he hasn't placed in graded stakes company since a second in the 2013 Canadian Turf Stakes. Joes Blazing Aaron has looked good against lesser company but was overmatched in his step up last time out. Tyler Baze has the mount from gate 4.

Play Hard to Get - has 10 career starts with three wins - one of them coming two starts back in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track February 27. Before that win were consecutive fourths including his first stakes start - the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes here December 28. Before that he won two of three races but he is coming off a fourth in the Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes here March 21. Play Hard to Get looks to break through in stakes company for the first time with Kent Desormeaux in the reins from gate 5.

Si Sage - French bred Darrell Vienna trainee was at his best in the late 2013/early part of 2014 - a second in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes followed a third in the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort Stakes in December, 2013. He has failed to place in six races since that time however - a sixth last time out in the minor Thunder Road Stakes April 4 followed a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming March 13, an eighth in the Grade 2 John Henry Turf Championship in September and a seventh in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap in August. Elvis Trujillo has been tabbed with snapping an ugly streak Saturday- from post 6.
