Las Vegas, NV - Santa Anita in Arcadia, California will be the scene of the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes on Saturday, March 7. Some of the best three year olds in the land will be after the winner's share of the $400,000 purse and the 50 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby in May when they take to Santa Anita's main track and race 1 1/16 miles.

A field of 10 will give it a go in the San Felipe - race 7 on Santa Anita's stacked Saturday card. Post time is 3:00 PM. Let's take a glance into the past performances of all 10 combatants for this important Grade 2 Road to the Kentucky Derby Points qualifier.

2015 San Felipe Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Dortmund - an early favorite for this year's Kentucky Derby will try to remain perfect in his career for trainer Bob Baffert - four career starts so far and four wins. He made his stakes debut December 20 and posted a good win in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity after an Allowance Optional Claiming score by 7 3/4 lengths at Churchill Downs November 29 and a 4 3/4 length maiden score in his debut - at Santa Anita November 2. Last time out he kept the roll going with an incredible rally win in the Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes on this track February 7.He leaves from post 3 Saturday with Martin Garcia in the saddle of the 123 pound highweight looking to keep the impressive run going - a win here would virtually assure him a starting spot in the Derby in May.

Ocho Ocho Ocho - will race for the fourth time for trainer James Cassidy looking to remain perfect. Last time out was a win in his graded stakes debut- the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot November 22 after another win in his stakes debut - by 5 3/4 lengths the 6 1/2 furlong minor Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes at Santa Anita November 1 and a maiden score at first asking in October. Ocho Ocho Ocho has been terrific so far and has posted two bullet six furlong works ahead of this race but faces his biggest challenge from gate 2 with Mike Smith in the reins.

Lord Nelson - Bob Baffert trained colt has three wins in five career starts - including last time out over Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Texas Red in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes here February 1 and by an impressive 6 3/4 lengths in the minor Speakeasy Stakes here October 13. He has failed to place in his two graded stakes starts however - a disappointing fifth behind El Kabeir and International Star - as favorite November 29 in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes November 29 and a fourth - right behind Texas Red in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes in September. Lord Nelson has won every second start in his career and looked great on this track last time out but is 0-for-2 at this distance. He lines up from the rail with Rafael Bejarano aboard.

Prospect Park - has five career starts with two wins, a second and a third place finish. He enters on a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths here January 30 and a maiden score November 27 also on this track. He takes a huge jump up in competition Saturday in good form with Kent Desormeaux riding him from post 6.

Sir Samson - makes his fourth career start for trainer Brian Koriner off a respectable third behind Lord Nelson in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes on this track February 1. Before that result was a maiden score in his second career start and an eleventh in his debut. Sir Samson has looked good in his last two starts, will try two turns for the first time and hopes to keep the upward trend going from 9 with Joe Talamo in the saddle.

Bolo - has three career starts with two wins for trainer Carla Gaines including a score in his stakes debut - last time out in the minor Eddie Logan Stakes on turf December 27. Bolo looks ready for his graded stakes bow and departs from post 7 with Victor Espinoza guiding him.

Pain and Misery - Richard Mandella trained colt has placed in all four career starts - two wins, a second and a third place finish. He enters off a second in the minor Baffle Stakes here February 15, a win in the minor Governor's Cup Stakes at Zia Park in October and a maiden score in his second career start. He has been competitive in every career stars - hopes are he continues that trend from the outside post with Flavien Prat riding.

Pulmarack - Jerry Hollendorfer trained colt has five career starts with a win and two second place finishes. He enters on the heels of a consecutive runner-up finishes in minor stakes action - the California Cup Derby last time out January 24 and the King Glorious Stakes in December at Los Alamitos. Before those results was a maiden score - on this track in October. Drayden Van Dyke has been tabbed to ride Pulmarack in his graded stakes debut - from gate 8.

The Gomper - Ronald Ellis trained colt has three career starts with a win and a second place finish. He makes his stakes debut Saturday off a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here January 30, a second in a similar race in December and a maiden score at first asking December 5. Tyler Baze has been tabbed to ride The Gomper in his big step up in competition from gate 4.

Kenjisstorm - George Papaprodromou trained colt has yet to win in his five race career - a pair of fourths represent his best finishes thus far. Not a whole lot is expected from Kenjissorm Saturday when he leaves from post 5 with Agapito Delgadillo in the irons.
