Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile goes down this Saturday, June 13 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Horses three years old and upward will be featured when they take to Santa Anita's turf track and go one mile for a nice purse of $400,000.

2015 Shoemaker Mile Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Bal a Bali - scorching up and coming Brazilian Triple Crown winner and Brazilian Horse of the Year - Richard Mandella pupil has 13 career starts - 12 wins and a third place finish! He made his North American debut last time out and looked mighty impressive in winning the Grade 2 American Stakes - after a tremendous late kick here on May 9. That win made it nine straight wins - his fifth win in six starts at the one mile distance. Flavian Prat has the mount from the outside post as Bal a Bali looks to keep an impressive streak going.

Midnight Storm - lightly raced Philip D'Amato trained colt enters on a nice three race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming in April, the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby back in August and an Allowance Optional Claiming score August 10.Before that was an eighth in a similar race in July and after breaking maiden in June - in his fourth career start. Midnight Storm has four wins and two seconds in eight career starts, he has won both career starts at this distance on turf and enters in career best form. Tyler Baze has the mount from post 3.

Talco - French bred John Sadler trained colt has looked good this year - two wins and two second place finishes in four starts. He enters off a second to Bal a Bali in the Grade 3 American Stakes here May 9 after consecutive wins in the minor Thunder Road Stakes and an Allowance Optional Claiming in March - both on this track. He made his North American debut August 31 and finished a decent third in the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby here also had an OK third in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby at Del Mar November 29. Before shipping he placed in five of six starts at home - two wins, two seconds and a third place finish. Rafael Bejarano gets the call hoping to Talco's first graded stakes score - from gate 2.

Winning Prize - multiple Grade 1 winner and Argentinean bred colt had eight starts at home with five wins and a second place finish including two straight wins (the Grade 1 Joaquin S. de Anchorena in December being the last). He recorded a terrific win in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes February, 2014 and a win in the 2014 Frank E. Kilroe Mile in gate-to-wire fashion a month later but has placed in just one of five starts since. Seek Again - Bill Mott pupil had seven starts in Britain that yielded three wins and two second place finishes including a win at York. He made his North American debut December 1, 2013 and won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby and followed that with a second behind Wise Dan in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 3, an OK third in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes at Belmont Park June 7 and another good win - in the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap August 9. Seek Again is coming off a third in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic May 2 after he finished a disappointing ninth in the Breeders' Cup Mile and a sixth in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile. He enters in so-so form although he won a one-mile turf race four starts back. Seek Again will depart for gate 4 with Jose Lezcano guiding him.
