2016 Delaware Handicap Race Preview at Delaware Park

I'm a Chatterbox 6-5 - five time stakes winner and Larry Jones trained filly has six wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 13 career starts - she was second to Stellar Wind in last year's Eclipse Award voting. She was last seen easily winning the minor $100,000 Obeah Stakes by 8 1/2 lengths on this very track June 11 which followed a good second in the Grade 3 Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland in April and a somewhat disappointing eighth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff. Before that was a good win in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx September 19 and consecutive seconds - behind Curalina after being DQ'd for interference in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks July 26 and in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga August 22. She also had an OK third in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks last May 1 and a three race win streak to start 2015- the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks March 28, the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes February 21 and the minor Silverbulletday Stakes in January - all at Fair Grounds. I'm a Chatterbox has been in some top company and has fared very well for the most part so far and will leave from gate 4 as the deserved overwhelming favorite with Florent Geroux in the saddle.

Paid Up Subscriber 2-1 - lightly raced Albert Stall trained filly has four wins and a third place finish in eight career starts. She enters on a nice two race win streak - the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap last time out in her first start around two turns June 18 and an Allowance Optional Claiming May 6 - both at Churchill Downs. Those results followed a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Keeneland April 8, a disappointing ninth in the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes in October and a fourth in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes in September. Paid Up Subscriber was OK before finding a groove in her last two starts. Ricardo Santana has been tabbed with keeping an impressive roll going from the rail Saturday aboard the morning line second choice.

Penwith 9-2 - Kiaran McLaughlin trained mare has five wins, a second and two third place finishes in 15 career starts but has failed to place in her last two starts overall. Last time out was a sixth in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6 after a fourth in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita in April. Before that were consecutive wins by a combined five lengths - by an impressive three lengths in the Grade 1 Royal Delta Stakes at Gulfstream February 13 and an Allowance Optional Claiming by two lengths at Santa Anita January 21 and nearly a year away from the track. She also posted an OK third in the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks in October of 2014. Penwith looks to snap a two race win streak and for her second graded stakes score this year when she leaves from the outside post 6. Joel Rosario gets the call on the third betting choice.

Mei Ling 5-1 - Todd Pletcher trained mare has four wins, eight seconds and four third place finishes in 21 career starts. She has been OK lately - a second last time out in the minor Rags to Riches Invitational at Belmont Park June 19 followed a sixth in the Grade 3 Distaff Stakes at Pimlico May 20 and a good second in the Grade 3 Top Flight Invitational in April. Before that was a win in the minor Heavenly Prize Invitational Stakes at Aqueduct March 5, a third in the minor Maryland Racing Media Stakes February 13, a second in a Ladies Handicap at Aqueduct in January and a good runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap in November. She has now placed in six of her last seven starts overall and will be chasing her first graded stakes score from post 5. Jose Ortiz gets the call.

Money'soncharlotte 15-1 - has 12 career starts already for trainer Kelly Breen with just three wins, a second and two third place finishes. Last time out was her best effort in a while - an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Monmouth Park June 26 after a fifth in a similar race at Aqueduct in April, a sixth in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks last August 22, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming August 1 and an eighth in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes in June, 2015. Money'soncharlotte hadn't been all that impressive before last time out and will be out to build on a nice win - from gate 2 with Carol Cedeno in the reins.

Milaya 15-1 - has 16 career starts already for trainer Michael Dilger with two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. She finished eighth in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks here last July 11 and has been just OK since. She has placed in four of her last five starts ahead of this weekend - a fifth last time out in the minor Rags to Riches Invitational at Belmont Park June 10 followed a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming May 26, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming April 14 and an Allowance score at Aqueduct in March.
