2016 Pin Oak Valley Stakes Race Preview at Keeneland Race Course

Azaelia 3-1 - French bred filly has placed in five of seven career starts - two wins, a second and two third place finishes. She makes her North American debut Friday off a good fourth in the G1 French Oaks at 53-1 odds at Chantilly June 19, a decent second in the G3 Prix Vanteaux on that track in May and an Allowance score in April. Azaelia has been competitive every time out and will be out to make a statement in what looks to be a cut back in class Friday from post 11. Florent Geroux is scheduled to ride the morning line favorite.

My Impression 4-1 - Shug McGaughey trained filly has won four of seven career starts. Last time out was a career-best effort - a 3 1/4 length win in the G3 Commonwealth Oaks at Laurel Park September 24. That result followed a sixth in the G2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 21, a win in the minor Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park July 6 and a fifth in the minor Memories Of Silver Stakes at Aqueduct in April. My Impression has two stakes wins in her last three starts overall and will be out for a second straight graded stakes victory from gate 10. Jose Ortiz will be in the saddle of the co-second betting choice from gate 10.

Quidura 4-1 - British bred Graham Motion trained filly will race for the fourth time Friday having posted two wins so far. Last time out was an Allowance score at Belmont Park September 18 in her North American debut after a tenth in a Group 3 race in Germany in April and a Maiden score at first asking at Baden Baden in September, 2015. Quidura has been decent so far in her career and will be out for a first stakes score from post 9. Junior Alvarado rides the other co-second choice.

Tin Type Gal 9-2 - Graham Motion trained filly has won three of her seven career starts with a third place finish as well - that coming last time out in the G2 Sands Point Stakes at Belmont Park September 17. Before that was a disappointing fifth in the competitive G1 Del Mar Oaks August 20, a career-best outing - a win in the G3 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park July 24, a fifth in the minor Wild Applause Stakes at Belmont Park June 19, nine months away, a nice win in the G3 Miss Grillo Stakes last September and a maiden score at Saratoga last August. Tin Type Gal has been great at times, not so good at others and will be out to gain a little consistency from gate 4 Saturday. Trevor McCarthy has the mount on this intriguing 9-2 shot.

Cheekaboo 12-1 - Peter Eurton trained filly has three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 11 career starts. She has struggled lately - a fifth last time out in the minor Unzip Me Stakes at Santa Anita October 1 followed an eighth in the G1 Del Mar Oaks August 20, a decent second in the minor Sandy Blue Handicap July 17 and a career-defining win in the G2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita June 19. Before that was a third in the minor Melair Stakes May 28 and a nice win in the minor Campanile Stakes at Golden Gate May 1. She also had an OK third in the minor Xpressbet California Cup Oaks in January. Cheekaboo has shown form in the past and hopes to get back to her winning ways from post 5 Friday. Kent Desormeaux has been tabbed to ride.

Linda 15-1 - has placed in five of six career starts for trainer Ian Wilkes - two wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She makes her stakes debut Friday in good form - an Allowance score last time out at Kentucky Downs followed a maiden score at Ellis Park July 31 and a pair of runner-up finishes in MSW races early in the summer. Linda looks ready for her huge step up in competition and will leave from the outside gate 14 with Brian Joseph Hernandez aboard.

Outsider Art 15-1 - won her first two career starts for trainer Jonathan Sheppard and has seven starts since - she has five third place finishes in those starts. Last time out was a disappointing eighth in the minor Dueling Ground Oaks September 11 after a fifth in the G2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 21, a third in the G2 Lake George Stakes on that track July 22 and two more thirds - in the minor Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park July 6 and in the minor Penn Oaks. She's also posted an ugly twelfth in the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs in May and consecutive thirds in graded stakes action - the G3 Appalachian Stakes in April and the G3 Jessamine Stakes in October. Outsider Art has been competitive at times but has failed to place in her last two starts overall. She tries for her first win in 13 months Saturday when she leaves from post 7 with Robby Albarado guiding her.

Sky My Sky 15-1 - has just two wins and two seconds in 11 career starts for trainer Mark Casse. She has failed to place in her last three starts ahead of this weekend - a fifth last time out in the minor Christiecat Stakes at Belmont Park September 9 followed a seventh in the minor Riskaverse Stakes at Saratoga August 25 and a fourth in the G2 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga in July. She did win two of her previous three including an Allowance in June but hasn't been great since. Julien Leparoux is in charge of changing all of that from post 13.

Triple Chelsea 20-1 - has placed in five of seven career starts for trainer Anthony Granitz - four wins and a third place finish. She makes her graded stakes debut on a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Kentucky Downs September 8 and a Claiming at Arlington in July. Her only two stakes starts came before that - a third in the minor L'Etoile du Nord Stakes at Canterbury Park in May and a tenth in the minor Austintown Filly Sprint in April. Triple Chelsea has been OK so far and tries for her fist stakes score in decent form. Francisco Torres has been tabbed to ride from gate 8.

Nawlins Kitty 20-1 - has just one win in four career starts for trainer William Bradley - that coming in her debut. Last time out was a tenth in an Allowance at Kentucky Downs September 3 after a fourth in the G3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington August 13 and an eighth in the minor TaWee Stakes at Indiana Grand in July. Nawlins Kitty hasn't been great but hopes to change her fortunes around from gate 12 with Shaun Bridgmohan in the reins.

Sweet Tapper 20-1 - Ian Wilkes trained filly has seven career starts with two wins and a third place finish. She makes her stakes debut off a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Kentucky Downs September 11, an Allowance score at Ellis Park August 12, a third in an Allowance in May and another Allowance victory in April. Sweet Tapper has been up and down against lesser competition and hopes for a huge breakthrough from post 3. Corey Lanerie rides.

Crooked Stick 30-1 - has three wins and a third place finish for trainer Alex Clarkson. She makes her graded stakes debut Friday off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Churchill Downs September 30, a fourth in the minor Indiana Grand Stakes September 7, an Allowance score at Ellis Park July 31 and off-the-board finishes in a pair of Allowance races earlier this year. She has won two of her last three starts and will be looking for a first graded stakes score from gate 6 Friday. Sophie Doyle will be in the reins.

Leafy Shade 30-1 - Irish bred Edward Graham trained filly has two wins and three thirds in 10 career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Friday off an OK third in the minor Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs September 11, a seventh in the minor Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park July 6, an Allowance score at Pimlico in June and a fourth in her North American debut in an Allowance in May. Leafy Shade enters in so-so form and will be after her first stakes score from the rail. James Graham will be in the saddle.

Nobody's Fault 30-1 - has won two of three career starts for trainer Chris Block but had an unsuccessful step up into stakes company last time out - a twelfth in the G3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington August 13. Before that was an Allowance score in July and a maiden score at first asking in August, 2015. Nobody's Fault looked good early in her career but will be looking to prove she belongs in stakes company when she leaves from gate 2 with Mitchell Murrill aboard.

Sassy Little Lila - Alternate Entry Brad Cox trained filly has a win and a second place finish in three career starts. She may make her stakes debut off a maiden score at Saratoga September 5, a second in a similar race July 24 and a sixth in her debut.
