2016 Jenny Wiley Stakes Race Preview at Keeneland

Tepin - reigning Eclipse Award winner for Female Turf - Mark Casse trained mare has 17 career starts with nine wins, three seconds and a third place finish. She enters having not finished worse than second in her last nine starts with seven wins over that span. She arrives on the heels of a terrific four race win streak - the Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay last time out March 12, the Grade 3 Endeavour Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths at Tampa Bay February 13, the Breeders' Cup Mile against the boys and by an impressive seven lengths and in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes October 3. Before that were consecutive seconds - the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes August 29 and the Grade 1 Diana Stakes in July. She also had wins in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes in June and the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile in May. Tepin has been sensational the last year and will try to keep the incredible roll going from gate 8 with Julien Leparoux aboard the 123 pound highweight and overwhelming favorite.

Dacita - Chilean champion, Chad Brown trained filly has 12 career starts at home with seven wins, two seconds and a third place finish and won three of her last four starts before shipping including three Group 1 races. She continued her impressive run in her North American debut with a win over Tepin in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes at Saratoga August 29 but stumbled to a ninth place finish as 5-1 second choice in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Last time out was a more respectable runner-up finish in the Grade 3 The Very One Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 5. Dacita will be looking for her fifth win in her last eight starts overall and enters in fairly form, having been one of the only horses in some time to beat Tepin. Javier Castellano gets the call from post 3.

Wekeela - French bred Chad Brown trained filly has three wins and two seconds in eight career starts. She makes her North American debut Saturday having done well in four consecutive Group races in France - a runner-up finish in the Group 1 Pour Moi Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary was followed by a career-defining win in the Group 3 Prix Chloe in June, a fifth in the Group 2 Prix de la Nonette in August and an OK fourth last time out in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera Longines at Longchamp in October. Wekeela has been pretty competitive so far and hopes to make a statement Saturday from gate 6. Gary Stevens will be in the irons.

Akatea - Irish bred Christophe Clement trained filly makes her North American debut Saturday having posted two wins, a second and a third place finish. He won a stakes at Longchamp last April and has been decent since. Last time out was a third in the Group 2 Qatar Prix Daniel Wilde in October after a second in the Group 2 Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp in September and a tenth in a Group 3 race in August. Akatea was competitive at home and hopes to carry that trend forward this week from gate 2. Jose Lezcano rides.

Miss Temple City - has placed in eight of nine career starts for trainer Graham Motion and enters off a decent second in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup here back on October 10. Before that was an OK third in the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes at Belmont Park September 12, a second in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 14, her only off-the-board finish - a fourth at 50-1 odds in the prestigious Group 1 Coronation Stakes overseas at Ascot in June, a win in the minor Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico May 14, a good second in the Grade 3 Appalachian Stakes here last April and a third in the Grade 3 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream in January, 2015. Miss Temple City has been competitive virtually every time out and is expected to be again Saturday. Drayden Van Dyke has been tabbed with getting Miss Temple City her first graded stakes score from the rail Saturday.

Tiger Ride - Graham Motion trained filly has five wins, a second and a third place finish in 10 career starts. Last time out was a respectable second in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 19 which followed a career best effort - a victory in the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes on this track in October. Those results followed a nice win in the minor Indiana Grand Stakes September 9, a fourth in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks and another minor stakes win - the TaWee Stakes in July. Her other graded stakes results were a fifth in the Grade 3 Appalachian Stakes in April, 2015 and a fourth in the Grade 3 Florida Oaks in March of last year. Tiger Ride has placed in three of her last four starts with three wins over that span and will have Edgar Prado in the reins from the outside post 10.

Recepta - has five wins, a second and three third place finishes in 13 career starts for trainer JJ Toner. She enters off a good second in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar November 29 which followed a disappointing twelfth in the Breeders' Cup Mile against the boys, a nice win in the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes at Belmont Park September 19 and a win in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes in August. She had placed in three of her last four starts overall with two wins over that span but hopes to snap a two race losing streak from gate 4. Florent Geroux has been tabbed to ride.

She's Not Here - Victoria Oliver trained filly has five wins, a second and three third place finishes in 18 career starts and enters having won two of her last four starts but having posted two consecutive duds. Last time out was a disappointing eighth in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar November 29 which followed a seventh in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland October 3. Before that were consecutive wins - the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Handicap here September 6 and an Allowance Optional Claiming in August. She has looked great at times but is in need of a strong bounce back after a pair of unflattering starts. Jockey Robby Albarado will try to accomplish that goal from post 9.

Itsonlyactingdad - has six career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher with three wins and two second place finishes. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream Park February 27 after a second in her graded stakes bow - the Grade 2 Belmont Oaks Invitational in July and a fourth in her stakes debut - the minor Wonder Again Stakes last May. Itsonlyactingdad will be after her first stakes score Saturday and arrives in decent form. Luis Saez will be in the saddle from post 5.

Illuminant - Michael McCarthy trained filly has three wins and two second place finishes in nine career starts. She enters off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita March 10 and consecutive fourths in graded stakes action - the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes in January and in the Grade 2 Monrovia Stakes January 3. Those results followed a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming November 27 at Del Mar and a maiden score at Santa Anita October 10. Illuminant looks for her first stakes score Saturday in so-so form. Flavien Prat has been scheduled to ride form post 7.
