2016 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Entries at Laurel Park
X Y Jet 9-5 - speedy Jorge Navarro trained gelding has been impressive in his career but struggled last time out to a fifth in the G1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park October 1. He also had an Allowance score at Parx March 21, a third in the G3 Tom Fool Handicap March 12, a third in the 2015 Vosburgh Stakes and a third in the G3 Belmont Sprint Championship in July, 2015. Stallwalkin' Dude has been competitive lately and will be after his second straight graded stakes score from post 9 Saturday. Joe Bravo will be in the saddle the likely second choice.
Ivan Fallunovalot 7-2 - has an impressive 14 wins, three seconds and a third place finish in 23 career starts for trainer WT Howard. He has finished first or second in nine of his last 10 races ahead of this weekend - seven wins over that span. He enters on a three race win streak - the minor David M. Vance Sprint Stakes last time out at Remington Park September 25, an Allowance on that track September 1, eight months away and another win in the minor King Cotton Stakes at Oaklawn Park (for the second year in a row) in January. Weekend Hideaway 8-1 - has posted six minor stakes wins in his career but no graded stakes scores. Two of those minor stakes scores came earlier this year - the Affirmed Success Stakes April 29 and the Commentator Stakes in May - both at Belmont Park. Last time out was an OK second in the minor Hudson Handicap at Belmont Park October 22 which followed a respectable third in the G1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont October 1, an Allowance score at Saratoga August 22 and a fourth in the minor John Morrissey Stakes July 28. He now has 11 wins, five seconds and five third place finishes in 35 career starts and has placed in five of his last six starts overall (three wins over that span). He will line up from gate 4 in decent shape to get that first graded stakes score with Paco Lopez in the irons.
Sonny Inspired 15-1 - has 32 career starts with six wins, six seconds and seven third place finishes. He enters having failed to place in his last three starts overall - a fourth last time out in the minor Find Stakes at Pimlico June 25 followed another fourth in the G3 Maryland Sprint on that track Mat 21 and an eighth in the G2 Charles Town Classic in April. Before that was a win in the minor Ben's Cat Stakes at Laurel Park March 19, a respectable third in the G3 General George Stakes on that track February 15 and another minor stakes score at Laurel Park - the Fire Plug Stakes in January. Sonny Inspired hasn't been great lately but returns to a track he's posted two wins and a third in his last three starts on. Jevian Toledo rides.
Life in Shambles 15-1 - Steve Asmussen trained gelding has six wins, three seconds and a third place finish. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park October 27, a sixth in a similar race on that track September 16 and a three race win streak - two Allowance Optional Claiming and a Maiden Claiming in the summer. Life in Shambles has one stakes start - a fifth in the minor Caixa Electronica at Aqueduct in April. He steps up in decent form and will have Ricardo Santana guiding him from post 5.
Pomeroy's Package 20-1 - has four wins, six seconds and five third place finishes in 24 career starts for trainer Mario Serey. He makes his graded staked debut Saturday in just so-so form. Last time out was a fifth in an Allowance November 1 after a third in a similar race October 8 and an OK second in the minor Hall of Fame Stakes September 17 - all at Parx. Before that was a win, a third, a fifth and another third in a quartet of Allowance Optional Claiming races this past summer. Pomeroy's Package looks for a breakthrough performance in his step up and will leave from post 3 with Hector Cabellero in the reins.
Final Prospect 20-1 - has just three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 22 career starts. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off a decent second in the minor New Castle Stakes at Delaware Park September 10, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming October 27 and a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track July 23. Byrd Memorial August 6, a second in the minor Challedon Stakes on this very track October 1 and another second last time out in an Allowance at Charles Town November 9.
