2016 Honorable Miss Handicap Race Preview at Saratoga Race Course

Paulassilverlining 2-1 - Michelle Nevin trained filly has placed in 11 of 13 career starts - six wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. She won the Grade 2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park in October, 2014 and went on to a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes to end her 2014 campaign - she also won the minor Ruthless Stakes in January, 2015. She raced in graded stakes company for the first time in 17 months April 17 and posted a very nice 3 3/4 length win over Cavorting among others in the Grade 3 Distaff Handicap and followed that win another good win - in the Grade 3 Vagrancy Handicap last time out at Belmont Park May 21. Before her recent win streak she posted a second in the minor Correction Stakes March 19, an Allowance Optional Claiming score with a career best 106 Beyer Speed Figure February 11. Paulassilverlining has been a factor in every race so far in her career and hopes to be again Wednesday. She looks to keep an impressive roll going from the rail Wednesday with Jose Ortiz aboard the 122 pound highweight and morning line favorite.

Haveyougoneaway 3-1 - Thomas Morely trained mare has 24 career starts with nine wins, four seconds and six third place finishes. She has been very good lately against lesser competition finishing first or second in seven of her last eight starts. Last time out was a win in the minor Dancin Renee Stakes June 3 after consecutive seconds - the minor Critical Eye Stakes May 30 and the minor Carousel Stakes April 14. Before that were wins in two more minor stakes races - the Spring Fever Stakes at Oaklawn Park February 20 and the American Beauty Stakes on that track in January. She has placed in 13 of her last 14 starts overall ahead of this week - competitive every time out. Jockey Kendrick Carmouche tries to keep the roll going on the morning line second choice from gate 4 Wednesday.

Bar of Gold 9-2 - won her first three career starts - all at Aqueduct for trainer John Kimmel and has been up and down in nine starts since. She enters off a decent third in the Grade 3 Bed o' Roses Handicap at Belmont Park June 25 after a nice win in the minor Critical Eye Stakes at Belmont Park May 30, an OK third in the Grade 3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 17, a disappointing sixth in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 19 and three straight runner-up finishes - the Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes October 17, the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 6 and in the Grade 1 Test Stakes on this track in August. She now has four wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 12 career starts. Bar of Gold looks for her first ever graded stakes score and arrives in decent form. She departs from the outside post 7 Wednesday with Junior Alvarado guiding the intriguing morning line third choice.

Sarah Sis 5-1 - Ingrid Mason trained filly has four graded stakes victories in her career - the 2015 Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes, the 2015 Grade 3 Iowa Oaks and the 2015 Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes and had been largely disappointing this year before a nice win last time out in front running style in the Grade 3 Chicago Handicap at Arlington June 25. Before that result was an eighth in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff in May, a fifth in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes in March and a fourth in the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes in February. Sarah Sis now has seven wins and four second place finishes in 18 career starts and has certainly been competitive at times in her career. She looks for her second straight graded stakes score from gate 6 Wednesday with Jose Valdivia in the reins.

Disco Chick 6-1 - Mario Serey trained mare has nine wins, nine seconds and three third place finishes in 29 career starts. She won three straight minor stakes in the late spring/early summer - the My Juliet Stakes at Parx May 7, the Skipcat Stakes at Pimlico May 29 and the Foxy J G Stakes at Parx June 4 and went on to an uncharacteristic sixth in an Allowance at Parx June 19. Last time out was a bit of a bounce back - a second in the minor Dashing Beauty Stakes at Delaware Park July 9. Disco Dick steps into graded stakes company for the first time Wednesday having finished first or second in eight of her last nine starts (four wins). Trevor McCarthy will try to keep the trend going from gate 2.

La Madrina 8-1 - Shug McGaughey trained mare has four wins and four third place finishes in 13 career starts. She won three of her first four career starts but hadn't tasted victory again before an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out at Pimlico May 13. Before that was a sixth in the Grade 3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 17, a third in the minor Garland of Roses Stakes in December, a fourth in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Stakes in October and off-the-board finishes in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races in August at Saratoga. La Madrina aims for her first stakes score and enters in so-so form. Javier Castellano has been tabbed to ride from post 3.

Diva Express 10-1 - Mark Casse trained filly won her graded stakes debut May 28 - the Grade 3 Winning Colors Stakes at Churchill Downs and posted a slightly disappointing fourth last time out in the minor Roxelana Stakes on that track June 25. Before her graded stakes breakthrough she posted an Allowance Optional Claiming score May 3, a fourth in a similar race in April and an Allowance score in November. She has won every second race in her last five - if the pattern holds true she could be in for a big race Wednesday. That said she's been inconsistent and will hope to cure that from post 5. Julien Leparoux rides.
