2017 Vagrancy Handicap Entries at Belmont Park

By the Moon 3-1 - winner of the 2014 G1 Frizette Stakes - Michelle Nevin trained mare has four wins, six seconds and a third place finish in 15 career starts. She enters on the heels of consecutive runner-up finishes - the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes last time out at Laurel Park February 18 and the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes December 31. Before that was an OK fifth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, another quality runner-up finish in the G1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 27 and one of her wins - the G3 Bed o' Roses Handicap at Belmont Park June 15. She also had a third in the G1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 8, 2015 and consecutive runner-up finishes - the 2015 G1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park and the minor Parx Oaks in May that year. By the Moon has placed in eight of her last 10 starts overall and will be looking for her second graded stakes from gate 8. Rajiv Maragh will be in charge of the tepid morning line favorite from gate 8.

Pretty N Cool 7-2 - Bob Baffert trained filly has 11 career starts with five wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was a strong bounceback win in the G3 Las Flores Stakes at March 5 which followed six months away and two disappointing efforts - a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar and a fourth in the G3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap on that track in August. Before that was a nice win in the minor C.E.R.F Stakes July 20, a six month layoff and a third in the G2 Santa Ynez Stakes in January 2015. In 2015 she also won the G2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park October 18, had a game runner-up finish behind Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filly winner Songbird in the G1 Del Mar Debutante September 5, posted a win by 2 3/4 lengths as favorite in the G2 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar August 12 and had a maiden score by 4 1/2 lengths on a sloppy track July 19. She was very good at the beginning of her career hopes that a win last time out is a sign of things to come. Martin Garcia has been tabbed to ride the second choice from post 9.

Kathryn the Wise 4-1 - will hit the track for just the third time for trainer Chad Brown having posted two wins in her only two starts so far - both at Aqueduct. She makes her stakes debut Friday off an Allowance score April 5 after a maiden score November 25. Kathryn the Wise hasn't been touched so far and hopes to make a little noise from gate 6.Irad Ortiz will be in the irons in this intriguing third betting choice.

Quezon 6-1 - Robert Ribaudo trained mare has hit the board in eight of 10 career starts - five wins and two second place finishes. She was last seen winning the minor Iroquois Stakes on this track October 22 after respectable second in the G2 Gallant Bloom Handicap here October 1. Before that were two runner-up finishes in minor stakes action last summer with one coming on this track in the Dancin Rose Stakes in July. She also won the minor Bouwerie Stakes in 2015 and the minor Maid of the Mist Stakes in 2014 on this track. Quezon has three wins and two seconds in her last six starts on this track and should be in the mix again Friday. Eric Cancel gets the call from post 3.

Carrumba 8-1 - Shug McGaughey trained mare has been worse than second just twice in 11 career starts with four wins so far. Last time out was a bit of a hiccup - a fifth in the G3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 9 after a second in the G3 Shuvee Handicap at Saratoga July 31 and a third in the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes on this track in June. Before that was a second in the G2 Ruffian Stakes here last May 14, a good win in the G3 Top Flight Invitational at Aqueduct April 10 and a respectable second in her stakes debut - the G3 Comely Stakes at Aqueduct November 28, 2015. Carrumba searches for her first win in over a year Friday and enters in decent form. Tyler Gaffalione will be in the reins from post 7.

Bar of Gold 8-1 - won her first three career starts - all at Aqueduct for trainer John Kimmel and has been up and down in 14 starts since. She enters on the heels of consecutive fourths - the minor Plenty of Grace Stakes at Aqueduct April 15 and the G3 Go for Wand Handicap on that track in December. Before that was a terrific 18 length win with a 117 Beyer Speed Figure in the minor Empire Distaff Handicap here October 22, a respectable third in the G2 Presque Isle Downs Masters September 19, a seventh in the G2 Honorable Miss Handicap at Saratoga July 27, a decent third in the G3 Bed o' Roses Handicap at Belmont Park June 25 and a nice win in the minor Critical Eye Stakes at Belmont Park May 30. In 2015 she posted three straight runner-up finishes - the G2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga and the G1 Test Stakes. She now has five wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 17 career starts and will look to his the board for the first time in three races. Bar of Gold looks for her first ever graded stakes score when she leaves from the outside post 11 with Angel Arroyo aboard.

Wheatfield 10-1 - Danny Pish trained mare has six wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 19 career starts. She made her graded stakes debut March 18 and finished a decent second in the G2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream and followed that with a disappointing sixth last time out in the G1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 8. Before those results were an OK second in the minor Mardi Gras Stakes at Fair Grounds February 28, a fourth in the minor American Beauty Stakes at Oaklawn Park January 28 and a nice win in the minor Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint at Fair Grounds December 10. Wheatfield has two wins and four second place finishes in her last eight starts overall and will be after a bounce-back performance from post 5 with Edgar Prado guiding her.

Kalabaka 20-1 - Richard Violette trained filly has four wins, eight seconds and a third place finish in 15 career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut off a fourth in her stakes debut - the minor Correction Stakes at Aqueduct March 18. She posted two Allowance Optional Claiming scores before that with the last coming at Parx February 21. Kalabaka placed in her five previous starts as well. She looks for a strong bounce back and for a first stakes score Friday from gate 4. Manuel Franco gets the call.

Anydayismyday 30-1 - lightly raced Edmund Pringle trained filly has placed in eight of nine career starts - three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes - all at Aqueduct. She steps into graded stakes company for the first time Friday on a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming March 17 and an Allowance February 10 after 13 months away, a third in her only stakes action to date - the minor Cicada Stakes in March, 2016 and a maiden score a month before that. Anydayismyday has been competitive and will be after a first stakes score Friday from gate 2. Christopher DeCarlo gets the call.

Fusaichi Red 30-1 - placed in her first seven starts for trainer James Jerkens including a win in the minor Miss Woodford Stakes in July, 2015 and a third in the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga two months later. He hasn't been great since - a sixth last time out in the minor White Pearl Stakes at Gulfstream Park January 18 followed a fourth in the minor Pumpkin Pie Stakes here in October and a sixth in the G2 Gallant Bloom Stakes on this track in October. She has three wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 16 career starts and chases a first stakes win from gate 10 with Nik Juarez guiding her.

Jemmabelle 50-1 - has just three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 20 career starts for trainer George Weaver. She makes her stakes debut Friday off a fourth in a Starter Allowance at Aqueduct March 5 and a second and a fourth respectively in a pair of similar races on that track this past winter. Before that were two straight Claiming scores - one coming on this track in October. Jemmabeel takes an enormous step up in competition in so-so form and will have Hector Rafael Diaz Jr. in the saddle from the rail.
