Taghleeb - Michael Maker trainee has six wins, four seconds and four third place finishes in 25 career starts. He made his graded stakes debut in October and finished seventh in the G1 Pattison Canadian International at Woodbine and followed that with a fourth in the G3 River City Stakes at Churchill Downs November 24. He enters this week on a nice two race win streak however - the G3 WL McKnight Handicap last time out January 28 and the minor H. Allen Jerkens Stakes December 31 - both on this very track. He had a decent win in the minor Remington Green Stakes September 25 as well. Taghleeb arrives in career best form and shoots for a third straight win here from post 3 Saturday. Jose Ortiz has been tabbed to ride.
Patterson Cross - Bill Mott trained colt has eight starts with two wins, two seconds and a third place finish. He made his stakes debut January 28 and finished third behind Taghleeb in the G3 WL McKnight Handicap and followed that with another respectable result last time out - a second in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes on this track March 4. Those result followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score here December 15, consecutive fourths in Allowance races this past fall and an eighth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park in September. Patterson Cross has been trending upward and will be after his first stakes score Saturday. Jose Lezcano will be in the reins from post 5.

Sadler's Joy - Thomas Albertrani trained colt failed to place in his first three career starts but has been good since. Last time out was a good stakes debut - a runner-up finish behind Taghleeb and ahead of Patterson Cross in the G3 WL McKnight Handicap on this track January 20. Before that were three straight wins including consecutive Allowance Optional Claiming scores in New York with the last coming November 9 and a maiden score at Saratoga in August. Sadler's Joy has been a factor in every race the last eight months and hopes to be again from gate 2 Saturday. Julien Leparoux gets the call.
Reporting Star - Brendan Walsh trained multiple stakes winner has been up and down in his career. He won the G3 Appleton Stakes here last April 2, the minor El Prado Stakes in December, 2015 and the G2 Play the King Stakes at 15-1 odds at Woodbine August 23, 2015. He also posted a second in the Florida Sunshine Millions Turf in January, 2016 (his second straight runner-up finish in that race). Sprinkled in there are some poor results as well including a ninth in the G2 Commonwealth Turf Cup four starts back at Laurel Park, a sixth in the G3 Red Bank Stakes at Monmouth Park June 5, an eighth in the G1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 7 and consecutive fifths in G1 races in the fall of 2015. He enters on the heels of consecutive thirds - in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes last time out March 4 and the minor Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes January 21 which followed a fourth in the minor El Prado Stakes in December - all on this track. Reporting Star is a tad tough to figure out but will leave from gate 6 Saturday hoping to gain a little consistency with Javier Castellano guiding him.
Montclair - Irish bred Armando De la cerda trained gelding had two wins, two seconds and two third place finishes in 13 starts at home - the best of which was a win in a Group 3 race at Longchamp in April, 2014. He has 10 starts in North America with varying results. He enters off a ninth in the G3 WL McKnight Handicap here January 28 after consecutive seconds - behind - you guessed it - Taghleeb in the minor H. Allen Jerkens on this track December 31 and an Allowance Optional Claiming at Aqueduct in November. He failed to place in his previous two including a fourth in his only other graded stakes action to date - the G3 American St. Leger Stakes at Arlington in August. Montclair has been OK and will be out for his first win in nearly 14 months - from post 7 with Nik Juarez in the reins.
Mr Maybe - Chad Brown trained gelding has 19 career starts with five wins, a second and four third place finishes. He was last seen finishing fifth in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes on this track March 4 which followed an ugly tenth in the G3 WL McKnight Handicap here January 28, a fourth in the G3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park October 10 and a good win in the minor John's Call Stakes at Saratoga in August. Other graded stakes results include a seventh in the G1 United Nations Stakes in July and a win the G3 Red Smith Handicap November 14, 2015. Mr Maybe has failed to place in four of his last five starts overall but has shown form in the past. Paco Lopez has been tabbed with getting Mr Maybe back on track from the outside gate 8.
Designed for War - Michael Maker trained Ringling has 12 career starts with three wins, a second and a third place finish. His only graded stakes start came in August, 2014 and resulted in a fifth in the G2 With Anticipation Stakes - he has mostly been underwhelming since. Last time out was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here March 10 which followed a tenth in the minor Prairie Bayou Stakes at Turfway Park December 17, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Churchill Downs in November, a third in an Allowance in October and off-the-board finishes in his previous two Allowance starts. Designed for War hasn't been great but will try for a major breakthrough from the rail Saturday. Joel Rosario rides.
Snag - has just one win and a third place finish in eight career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher. He has failed to place in three starts ahead of this weekend - a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out here February 11 followed a sixth in the minor H. Allen Jerkens Stakes on this track December 31 and an eighth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Aqueduct in November. He broke maiden in the race before that but has mostly been underwhelming so far in his career. Snag hopes to change his fortunes around Saturday from gate 4 with John Velazquez in the saddle.
