2017 Madison Stakes Entries at Keeneland Racecourse

Paulassilverlining - Newly Chad Brown trained mare has placed in 15 of 18 career starts - eight wins, four seconds and three third place finishes. She won the G2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park in October, 2014 and went on to a runner-up finish in the G3 Tempted Stakes to end her 2014 campaign - she also won the minor Ruthless Stakes in January, 2015. She raced in graded stakes company for the first time in 17 months last April 17 and posted a very nice 3 3/4 length win in the G3 Distaff Handicap and has been good since - a nice win last time out the minor Garland of Roses Stakes at Aqueduct December 10 followed a decent third in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and another win in the G2 Gallant Bloom Handicap at Belmont Park October 1. She also had a second in the G2 Honorable Miss Handicap July 27 and a win in the G3 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park last May 21. Paulassilverlining has been a factor in every race so far in her career and hopes to be again Saturday. Jose Ortiz has the mount from gate 6.

Constellation - has placed in eight of nine career starts for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer - five wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She finished third in the G1 Spinaway Stakes in September, 2015 - her second career starts and went on to a second in the G2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park a month later. She has won four of six starts since - the best of which was the G1 La Brea Stakes at 12-1 odds on this track December 26. The other wins include the minor City of Phoenix Stakes at Turf Paradise November 12, the minor Ruthless Stakes four starts back January 17, 2016 and the minor Furlough Stakes in November, 2015. Clothes Fall Off - defending eighth place finisher in this race has placed in 12 of 15 career starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin - five wins, six runner-ups and a third place finish. Last time out was a nice 4 1/4 length win in the minor Correction Stakes (for the second straight year) at Aqueduct March 18 which followed an OK third in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes at Laurel Park - a race she placed second in 2015. She struggled before that - a fifth in the minor Interborough Stakes at Aqueduct January 22 followed nine months away and an eighth in the 2016 Madison Stakes back in April. Clothes Fall Off has been decent so far in her career and has been trending upward after a brief slump. She tries to better an unflattering result in this race last year from gate 2 with Julien Leparoux in the irons.

High Ridge Road - has placed in 10 of 11 career starts for trainer Linda Rice - five wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. She enters off a good win in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes at Laurel Park February 18 which followed another win in the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes on that track December 31, a decent second in her only other graded stakes action to date - the G3 Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct December 3, a fourth in the minor Lady's Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park July 4 and two straight Allowance scores at Laurel Park last spring. High Ridge Road has looked good the last year in winning four of her last six races and will be after a third straight stakes score (second straight graded stakes). Horacio Karamanos gets the call from post 5.

Paid Up Subscriber - lightly raced Chad Brown trained filly has four wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 11 career starts. She was last seen back in October finishing second in the G1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes on this track. Before that was a fifth in the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga in August, a second place finish to I'm A Chatterbox in the G1 Delaware Handicap July 16 and a nice two race win streak - the G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap in her first start around two turns June 18 and an Allowance Optional Claiming May 6 - both at Churchill Downs. Those results followed a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Keeneland April 8, a disappointing ninth in the G2 Raven Run Stakes in October and a fourth in the G2 Prioress Stakes in September. Paid Up Subscriber has two wins and two runner-up finishes in her last five starts overall - decent form heading into the weekend. Joel Rosario has been tabbed to ride from the rail.

Kathballu - multiple graded stakes placed Kenneth McPeek trained mare has seven wins, three seconds and three third place finishes. She enters in decent form having won three of her last four starts overall. Last time out was a win in the minor Spring Fever Stakes at Oaklawn Park March 4 after a fifth in the minor Big Easy Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds January 28 and two other minor stakes scores - the Zareta Stakes at Fair Grounds December 31 and the Orleans Stakes at Delta Downs in November. She did place second in the G3 Chicago Handicap at Arlington in June but has failed to place in her two graded stakes starts since. Kathballu has been good against lesser competition and hopes it finally translates in graded stakes company Saturday. Channing Hill is scheduled to ride from post 3.

Wheatfield - Danny Pish trained mare has six wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 18 career starts. She made her graded stakes debut last time out and finished a decent second in the G2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 18 after an OK second in the minor Mardi Gras Stakes at Fair Grounds February 28, a fourth in the minor American Beauty Stakes at Oaklawn Park January 28 and a nice win in the minor Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint at Fair Grounds December 10. Wheatfield has two wins and four second place finishes in her last seven starts overall - good shape ahead of this weekend. Edgar Prado has been tabbed to ride from post 7 Saturday.

Ponder Lea - has placed in 10 of 11 career starts for trainer Richard Baltas - three wins, three seconds and four third place finishes. She made her graded stakes debut last time out and finished an OK third in the G3 Las Flores Stakes at Santa Anita March 5. Before that was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming February 16, a third in the minor Kalookan Queen Stakes at Santa Anita December 30 and consecutive thirds in Allowance races at the end of 2016. She has been decent against lesser competition and proved last time out that she isn't scared of graded stakes foes as well. She tries for a first stakes score Saturday from gate 8 with Florent Geroux in the irons.

Mines and Magic - Victoria Oliver trained filly has three wins, a second and a third place finish in her eight career starts. Last time out was a sixth in the minor Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay February 18 which followed a nice win in the minor Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs in September and a pedestrian seventh in the G1 Del Mar Oaks back in August. Before that was an OK stakes debut - a third in the G2 Indiana Oaks July 16 after a pair of wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs June 25 and a maiden score on that track May 28. Mines and Magic has been up and down so far in her career but tries for a first ever graded stakes score and second stakes win in three starts with Robby Albarado in the reins from the outside post 9.
