2017 Arcadia Stakes Entries at Santa Anita Park

Conquest Enforcer - has eight career starts for trainer Mark Casse with five nice wins and two third place finishes - competitive every time out. He debuted with a fourth in the G2 Summer Stakes in September, 2015 and then reeled off three straight minor stakes scores that year- the Charlie Barley Stakes July 3, by 7 3/4 lengths in the Queenston Stakes May 21 and by 6 3/4 lengths in the Cup and Saucer Stakes in October - the latest two in gate-to-wire fashion. He has been good in four starts since as well - a great win with an eye-opening 99 Beyer Speed Figure last time out in the G2 Mathis Brothers Mile here December 26 followed a third in the G2 Nearctic Stakes at Woodbine October 16, a win in the minor Allied Forces Stakes at Belmont Park September 11 and a respectable third in the G2 Play the King Stakes August 20. Conquest Enforcer has been very good and will chase his second straight graded stakes score Saturday. Flavien Prat will be in the irons from post 4.

Ring Weekend - returned from a 14 month layoff May 21 for trainer Graham Motion and finished a very respectable second in the G2 Dixie Stakes at Pimlico and followed that with an uncharacteristic sixth in the G1 Fourstardave Handicap August 20 and a good win in the G2 Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga September 5. He enters this week off a fifth as favorite in the G3 San Gabriel Stakes here January 7 which followed a good win in the G2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar November 26 and consecutive uncharacteristic seventh place finishes - the BC Mile November 5 and the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland October 8. Before the layoff he won the 2015 G1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile at Santa Anita and had wins in the G3 Saranac Stakes in September, 2014 and the G3 Hill Prince Stakes a month later. Ring Weekend now has seven wins, four seconds and two third place finishes in 21 career starts but has failed to place in three of his last four starts overall. He has been up-and-down in his career and will chase his second graded stakes score in three starts from gate 2 Saturday. Rafael Bejarano rides.

What a View - Kenneth Black trained gelding has six wins and three second place finishes in 16 career starts. He arrives off an OK second behind graded winner Ashleyluvssugar in the minor California Cup Turf Classic here January 28 which followed a sixth in the G2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar November 26 and a career-worst effort - a last of fourteen after tiring in the Breeders' Cup Mile . Before that was an unfortunate eighth in the G1 Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland October 8 and a terrific four race win streak - the G3 Thunder Road Stakes at Santa Anita April 9, the G1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile on that track in March, the minor California Cup Turf Classic January 30 and an Allowance Optional Claiming December 26 of 2015. What a View was terrific before his layoff but has failed to place in three of his last four starts. He tries to snap a four race losing streak Saturday and to climb out a bit of a funk when he leaves from post 3 with Tyler Baze aboard.

Bolo - defending champion in this race has 12 career starts with four wins, a second and two third place finishes for trainer Carla Gaines. He was last seen way back on July 17 when he finished ninth in the G2 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar. That followed an ugly tenth in the G1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 7, a respectable second behind What a View in the G1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile in March and a win in the G2 Arcadia Stakes February 13. Before that he was last of nine as favorite in the G1 Belmont Derby Invitational last July 4. Other results of note include a disappointing twelfth in the 2015 Kentucky Derby, a third in the 2015 G1 Santa Anita Derby April 4 and another third in the G2 San Felipe Stakes - his graded stakes bow March 7, 2015. Bolo has been largely underwhelming but will be after a repeat win in this race Saturday. Mike Smith has been tabbed to ride from the rail.

Ohio - Brazilian bred Paulo Lobo trainee has six wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 14 career starts - four wins and two seconds in seven starts at home including three of his last four there. He debuted in North America in March and won an Allowance Optional Claiming and went on to a sixth in the G3 American Stakes in May and another Allowance Optional Claiming score June 12 - all three at Santa Anita. He hasn't been great since - a seventh last time out in the G3 San Simeon Stakes here December 26 followed a fifth in the G3 Eddie D Stakes on this track September 30, an OK third in the G2 Del Mar Mile and an eighth in the G2 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar July 17. Ohio has been good against lesser company in his career but has struggled in stakes company. He hopes to change all of that and gain his first stakes win Saturday from gate 4 with Tiago Josue Pereira guiding him.
