2017 Megahertz Stakes Entries at Santa Anita Park
Do the Dance - improving Gary Sherlock trained filly has 19 career starts with four wins, three seconds and a third place finish. She enters this week in decent form - a gate-to-wire win last time out in the restricted Kathryn Crosby Stakes at Del Mar November 11 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track October 21 and two off-the-board finishes in Allowance races. She has two previous graded stakes starts which resulted in a ninth in the G3 Providencia Stakes here in April and a twelfth in the 2015 G3 Jimmy Durante Stakes. Do the Dance shoots for a first ever graded stakes score and for a third straight win overall when she leaves from the rail with Tyler Baze aboard.
Into the Mystic - Irish bred Richard Mandella trained filly has four wins and a second place finish in 10 career starts. She placed in four straight Allowance races overseas in 2015 but failed to place in her last two starts before shipping. Into The Mystic has three North American starts with mixed results - a fourth last time out in the G3 Red Carpet Handicap at Del Mar November 24 followed a sixth in the minor Swingtime Stakes on this track October 8 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Del Mar August 20. She has been up-and-down in her career and will chase a first stakes score from the outside post 7 Monday. Flavien Prat has been tabbed to ride.
Tiz a Kiss - has 23 career starts for trainer Richard Baltas with four wins, seven seconds and a third place finish. She enters off a seventh behind the terrific Miss Temple City in the G1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar December 4 which followed a respectable second in the G2 Goldikova Stakes at Santa Anita November 6, a fifth in the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes here October 1 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Del Mar September 1. Before that was a second in the minor Solana Beach Stakes August 14, a fifth in the minor Dream of Summer Stakes here March 27 and an eighth in her only other graded stakes action to date - the 2016 Megahertz Stakes in January. Tiz a Kiss has failed to place in two of her last three starts but looked very good in the other (all stakes) and tries for a first ever stakes win from gate 6 Monday. Kent Desormeaux has the mount.
Prize Exhibit - British bred James Cassidy trained filly finished fourth in the 2014 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and has certainly been up and down since. She posted two nice wins in 2015 the G3 Senorita Stakes in June and the G2 San Clemente Stakes at Del Mar in July. She went on to a respectable third in the G1 Del Mar Oaks in August of 2015 and a second in the 2015 Yellow Ribbon Stakes in September of that year. She hasn't looked great since however - she has placed in just one of her last 10 starts overall. Last time out was an eighth in the G1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar December 4 which followed a fifth in the G2 Goldikova Stakes at Santa Anita November 6, a fourth in the minor Swingtime Stakes here October 8, a tenth in the G2 John C. Mabee Stakes September 4, an OK second in the minor Osunitas Stakes in July, a seventh in the G2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes in July and a sixth in the G1 Just a Game Stakes at Belmont Park June 11. Prize Exhibit has shown form in the past but hasn't looked good lately but is the only graded stakes winner in the field. Mike Smith has been trusted with changing Prize Exhibit's fortunes around from gate 2.
Kenriya - French bred filly has placed in four of six career starts for trainer Christophe Ferland - thee wins and a runner-up finish. She makes her North American debut Monday off a good Allowance score at Deauville November 28 which followed a seventh in the Group 3 Prix de Lieurey in August, an eleventh in the Group 1 Poule d' Essai de Pouliches in May and a respectable second in the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte at Chantilly in April. Kenriya has been OK in her career so far and hopes for a first ever stakes/group score from post 5. Julien Auge gets the call.
Poster Girl - British bred Matthew Chew trained filly has just one win and a second in her nine career starts. She makes her North American debut Monday off a seventh in a race at Royal Windsor October 10, a fourth in September at Leicester and a second in a Handicap race at Royal Windsor in August. Poster Girl steps into stakes/group company for the first time in less-than-spectacular form and looks as though she will be in over her head when she departs from post 3 with Alex Solis aboard.
Jeremy's Legacy - Doug O'Neill trained filly has just one win and a pair of seconds in 11 career starts. She enters off a tenth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar December 4, six months away, an eighth in the G2 Honeymoon Stakes on this track back in June, a fourth in the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 6 and a respectable second in the G3 Providencia Stakes on this track April 9. Jeremy's Legacy, outside of her runner-up finish four starts back hasn't been all that impressive. She hopes to change her fortunes from gate 4 with Mario Gutierrez in the irons.
