VINTON, LA. - Delta Downs' richest and most important race day of the year. It's the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot program, and it takes place this Saturday, November 19. Many of the connections that will take part in the main event, which features 2-year-olds vying for a massive first-place paycheck of $600,000 in graded earnings, are making final travel arrangements to get to Vinton, Louisiana for the 1 1/16-mile showdown.
Eleven horses are expected to pass through the entry box on Wednesday, but only 10 will be allowed to start. Listed below, in order of entry preference by earnings and graded stakes placings, is the latest information from Delta Downs' racing office regarding arrival plans.
The winner of this year's $250,000 Del Mar Futurity (Gr. I) is scheduled to fly from Southern California to Shreveport, Louisiana at 5 a.m. PST Wednesday morning along with Basmati and Longview Drive, who are also expected to start in the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot (Gr. III). The Bob Baffert trainee and his traveling companions will then van from Shreveport to Vinton, which should take approximately 3.5 hours.
The winner of the $200,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs has been stabled in barn 6 since arriving prior to his October 22 triumph for trainer Kelly Breen. The son of Pleasantly Perfect has been galloping over the track each morning under exercise rider Walter Blum.
The undefeated star of Northlands Park in Edmonton, Alberta arrived at Delta Downs two weeks ago and is stabled in the stakes barn for trainer Joan Petrowski.

The son of Pulpit is traveling with Drill and Basmati on a flight from Southern California to Shreveport, Louisiana Wednesday morning before making the van ride to Vinton. Longview Drive would mark the first starter in the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot for Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
The fifth-place finisher in this year's $500,000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint is expected to van from Remington Park in Oklahoma to Delta Downs on Thursday for trainer Allen Milligan.
Trainer Dallas Steward is expected to van the son of Bluegrass Cat to Delta Downs from his home base at Fair Grounds in New Orleans either Friday or Saturday morning.
The Steve Asmussen trainee will board a van headed for Delta Downs this evening and is scheduled to arrive early Thursday morning. Asmussen holds the record for most $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot starters at six but has never gotten to the winner's circle.
The Southern California invader is traveling along with Drill and Longview Drive to Delta Downs via airplane to Shreveport before taking a van ride to Vinton on Wednesday morning.
The runner-up My Adonis in the Jean Lafitte at Delta Downs will return for the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot from his current home base of Fair Grounds in New Orleans via a van ride on Saturday morning. The W. Bret Calhoun trainee will attempt to become the third horse to exit the Jean Lafitte and win the Jackpot after Mr. Jester did it in 2003 and Rule turned the trick in 2009.

The Albert Stall, Jr. trainee is expected to make his way from Churchill Downs to Fair Grounds sometime this week before arriving at Delta Downs' backside Saturday morning. The son of Stormy Atlantic checks in 13th in terms of earnings but gets preference to join the top 10 who will make the starting gate by virtue of his runner-up finish in the Grade III Iroquois at Churchill Downs on October 30.
The bubble horse, currently in the 11th position to make the final 10 starters for the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot, has been stabled at the track for the past week. The Tim Ice trainee has been galloping over the racing surface each morning as his connections hope for at least one defection on the possible list of starters.
Final entries and the official post-position draw for Saturday's $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot will take place in the track's racing office on Wednesday morning. Once the draw is complete, official past performances of each horse in the race will be available online at www.deltadownsjackpot.com.
