Kiaran McLaughlin, winning trainer of Farhaan (No. 3) and beaten favorite and third-place finisher Alpha (No. 1): "We thought Alpha would be able to win. In the first turn he got jammed up and went a little quick; he almost ran off with Johnny [Velazquez]. It wasn't an ideal situation; that's why we had Farhaan as a backup plan and it worked out great. I think they went so fast early and it set up well for him. Irad [Ortiz, Jr.] is riding unbelievably right now. He rode three so far today and won all three, [including] two for us. So it was a great day and great to see this horse run so well off a four-month layoff. He was ready today. Maybe we'll have higher goals for him later; bigger races. We'll have to think about Alpha. He ran well. He didn't just fall in a heap; he just went too fast early."
Irad Ortiz Jr., winning jockey aboard Farhaan (No. 3): "He broke and my plan was to sit and come running at the end, and that's what happened today. We broke and sat and he came running at the end. He was ready. [Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin] brought the horse ready today. He was feeling great, and he won. They went a little fast, but stakes horses can go that fast and keep going. Thank God they came back and it worked out for us today. When I asked him to go, he just took off. He responded pretty good."
John Velazquez, rider of beaten favorite and third-place finisher Alpha (No. 1): "It was a good trip, a little too fast. My instructions were to come out to the first turn and see where we are. There was one speed on the outside of us. We thought he might speed up a bit, but we went a little bit fast in the first part."
