If No Winners, Pot Carries Over to Next Race; No Consolation Payoffs
Introduction of $5 Quinella and Early Pick 5
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Gulfstream Park West announced today it will offer three new wagers including an innovative Super Hi 5 that will build from race-to-race if there are no winners, beginning Opening Day, Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Along with the $1 Super Hi 5’s on every race, Gulfstream will also add an early 50-cent Pick 5 on its first five races and a $5 quinella on the last race of the day.
The Super Hi 5, currently available at Gulfstream only on the last race, will begin with the first race each day at Gulfstream Park West. If there are winning tickets with the first five finishers in correct order, the entire pool will be paid out. There will be no consolation payoffs. If there are no winning tickets, the entire pool will carry over into the next race.
If there are no winning tickets on the final race of the day – or if the pool continues to build – there will be a carryover beginning with the first race on the next day of live racing.
“We’re always interested to include new wagers on our betting menu,” said Gulfstream’s General Manager and The Stronach Group’s Vice President of Racing P.J. Campo. “We think the Super Hi 5 may create some excitement during the afternoon if there’s a carryover building. The early Pick 5 is something that has been brought up while talking to our patrons, and we think the $5 quinella gives our players another way to get out, along with the Super Hi 5, late Pick 5 and late Pick 4.
“We’re going to try things out at Gulfstream Park West beginning Opening Day. We’ll see if the wagers work, don’t work, or need refinement by the time we return to Gulfstream Park on Dec. 5. We’re optimistic and excited about the new wagers and our race meet at Gulfstream Park West.”
