Tickets Accepted in Any Amount as Long as It’s in 20-Cent Increments
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – With unprecedented wagering expected on Gulfstream Park’s Rainbow 6 Monday – when a mandatory payout could reach an estimated $16 million – players of the popular multi-race wager will have the option of betting tickets with higher base wagers.
Although 20 cents will remain the minimum cost of a Rainbow 6 bet, tickets in higher amounts will be accepted, as long as they are in 20-cent increments, in order to facilitate the process of placing multi-combination wagers. Thus, on Monday, a ticket can be played with a base wager of any dollar amount.
The Rainbow 6 will begin Monday with the fifth race, which is slated to go off at approximately 4:05 p.m. Gulfstream will allow bettors an hour between the fourth and fifth race to place their Rainbow 6 wagers. Advance wagering is also available Monday as soon as the betting windows open at 11 a.m.
The Rainbow 6 carryover heading into Saturday’s program was $6,303,426.30. A North American Pick 6 pool record is expected to be set on Monday if the multi-race wager continues to go unsolved on Saturday and Sunday. A bettor must hold the only ticket with all of the winners in the six-race sequence in order to win the carryover jackpot. But on Monday, the entire pool will be disbursed whether there is a single ticket or multiple tickets with all six winners.
The record pool for a Pick 6 wager is $10,870,852.60, set at Hollywood Park on July 2, 2007. There were 13 winners at Hollywood and each ticket was worth $576,064.40.
The record single payout to a Rainbow 6 winner is $3,591,245.44 on Feb. 22, 2013, when a bettor in New Jersey took down the jackpot.
