Multiple Ticketholders Cash in on Multi-Race Wager

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool produced multiple winners of $36,652.54 Friday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-wager had gone unsolved for 16 straight racing days, leading up to Friday’s mandatory payout. Lured by a guaranteed $350,000 carryover, bettors poured $903,874 into the Rainbow 6 pool before the start of the six-race sequence that spanned Races 4-9.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On Friday, it wasn’t necessary to hold a unique ticket with all six winners to grab a share of the mandatory carryover pool. All bettors holding tickets with the most winners for the last six races on the card shared in the entire pool.

There were two tickets alive to take down the entire pool with longshots No. 9 She’s the Cat and No. 14 Summer at Susan’s in the ninth race, but neither horse was a factor. The winning combination was 1-2-6-4-9-12.

Rock All Day ($42) pulled off a big upset in the fourth race, the first leg of the Rainbow 6, followed by a pair of favorites, Galardonado ($5.40) and Capriccio Blue ($4.20) in the fifth and sixth races, respectively. Apprentice Jockey John Cruz, who rode Rock All Day to victory in the first leg, scored with another longshot, Miss Motivation ($24) in the seventh race. Hollywood Idol ($11) in the eighth and Simplistic ($12.20) in the ninth rounded out the winning combo.

A mandatory payout of the Super-Hi 5 pool returned a $6,806.50.
