HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Thursday’s Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot swelled to $898,218.44 when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 32nd consecutive program at Gulfstream Park Sunday.

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $5,413.96.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 carryover pool at Gulfstream Park is scheduled for next Saturday.

On mandatory payout days, a single unique ticket with all six winners is not required to take down or share in the carryover jackpot. The entire Rainbow 6 pool is paid out to the holders of tickets with the most winners.

Mandatory payouts are also scheduled for the Late Pick 5 and Super Hi-5 next Saturday.

Earth Provides Orb with First Winner as Stallion

Todd Pletcher-trained Earth was victorious in his career debut in Sunday’s fourth race at Gulfstream Park, providing his sire, Orb, with the first winner of his young stallion career.

The 2-year-old son of the 2013 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner graduated from the maiden ranks in a five-furlong turf dash, prevailing over Pocket Book by a neck in 56.43 seconds.

Earth’s triumph fittingly came at Gulfstream Park, where Orb prepared for his Derby win with three straight victories, including successes in the Florida Derby (G1) and Fountain of Youth (G2) for trainer Shug McGaughey.

Earth is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, who visited the winner’s circle with Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Tapwrit Saturday at Belmont Park. The 9-5 favorite was purchased for $190,000 at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale.

Earth stalked the pace in third before rallying through the stretch under jockey Tyler Gaffalione.

“It’s exciting. I’ve been a big fan of Orb since he was a 2-year-old. Now, I get to ride some of his babies. It’s cool,” Gaffalione said. “The horse was very professional. Todd and his team do such a great job. He was ready to run today. I just had to get him around there.”
