Miguel Vasquez Celebrates Big Day with Three Wins
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL â The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot for Sundayâs program at Gulfstream Park swelled to $640,989.57 when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 26th consecutive card Saturday.
First-race post time for Sundayâs 11-race card is set for 1:15 p.m.
Multiple tickets with all six winners Saturday were each worth $8,452.32.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that dayâs pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Sundayâs Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11 and will include the $50,000 Crystal River Handicap, a five-furlong turf sprint for 3-year-olds and up. Multiple stakes-winning Brandyâs Girl is scheduled to take on the boys, including Starship Wildcat a winner of three of his last four starts.
There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,468.49 heading into Sundayâs card.
Miguel Vasquez Celebrates Big Day with Three Wins
After helping 96-year-old trainer Jerry Bozzo make history in Saturdayâs second race by guiding Cotton Tooyah ($5.60) to victory, jockey Miguel Vasquez visited the winnerâs circle on two more occasions. He also scored back-to-back victories aboard Danaâs Ride ($9.40) in the seventh and Diddley ($14) in the eighth
Bozzo became the oldest trainer in Thoroughbred history to win a race, eclipsing the record held by the late Noble Threewitt, who sent out a winner at the age of 95, 2 months in 2006.
Edgard Zayas also made three trips to the winnerâs circle after victories aboard Fancy Madelyn ($4.20) in the fifth, King Power ($3) in the ninth and All About Diva ($24.60) in the 10th.
