Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint comes our way this Saturday, February 9 from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida. Horse four years old and upward will be featured in this seven furlong dash as they chase the winner's share of the $150,000 purse on Gulfstream's dirt track.
The Gulfstream Park Sprint has attracted a field of eight for race 9 on Gulfstream's stakes-latent Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:29 PM. Here is a brief look into the past performances of all eight combatants for this Grade 3 event.
Bahamian Squall - raced to a sixth in the Grade 3 Swale Stakes in his only graded stakes action in March and followed that with a fifth in the Ocala Breeders' Stakes in April. In five starts since Bahamian Squall has finished either first or second in six starts - wins in an Allowance at Calder in May and at the Sunshine State Stakes two back and seconds in the Jack Dudley Sprint in November and last time out in the Sunshine Millions Sprint to Off the Jak being his best results. He was one of the best sprinters in 2011 and will be looking to reclaim that roll starting Saturday.
Swagger Jack - had five starts in 2012 - all Allowance Optional Claiming races with two wins and a second place finish. His one start in 2013 came January 17 on this track - an Allowance Optional Claiming score. He hasn't been in graded stakes company since May 2011 when he finished fifth in the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs but he enters the Park Sprint in good form.
Fort Loudon - has raced in some big events - he finished fifth in the Fountain of Youth Stakes, fourth in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes and seventh in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Fort Loudon rattled off three straight wins between May and July of last year including the Grade 3 Carry Back Stakes at Calder but followed that up with a disappointing fifth in the Amsterdam Stakes on July 29. He bounced back impressively with a second in the Grade 1 King's Bishop. Since then he has recorded a seventh in the Grade 1 Vosburgh, a nice second in the Grade 3 Ack Ack Handicap at Churchill Downs November 2, a second in the Sunshine State Stakes to Bahamian Squall here December 2 and an OK third last time out in the Florida Sunshine Millions Classic January 19 behind Ron the Greek.
Travelin Man - Todd Pletcher's Travelin Man won the Grade 2 Swale Stakes here way back in April 2011 but will line up in graded stakes company for the first time since. In 2012 he had five starts with two wins - the most impressive coming in March at the minor Sir Shackleton Stakes here. Last time out was a second in the minor Teddy Drone Stakes at Monmouth in July to follow a fourth in an Allowance Optional claiming on that same track in June 2012.

Good Morning Diva - has three wins and three third place finishes in 11 career starts but is coming off a fifth in the Grade 3 Hal's Hope Stakes here January 13. Before that was an Allowance score at Calder November 23, a fourth and a third in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races, a decent third in the Grade 3 Pegasus and a fourth in the minor Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth in July.
Close It Out - had 13 starts in 2012 mostly at Calder and placed in 10 with wins in an Allowance Optional Claiming in April and the minor Sunshine States Stakes on this track December 2. Last time out was a fourth in the Sunshine Millions Sprint here January 19.
Fair Whit - made his stakes debut with a fourth in the Grade 3 Spend a Buck at Calder October 13 and after just four wins and a third place finish in his previous 14 career starts. In his last three starts Fair Whit has a decent third in the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper at Calder November 24, an Allowance score here December 1 and a disappointing fifth last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track January 13.
Big Grandpa - makes his stakes debut Saturday after six wins and three seconds in 16 career starts but is coming off two straight wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park last time out October 19 and an Allowance score also at Belmont Park September 30.
