Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile comes our way from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California this Saturday, March 8. A purse of $350,000 will be on the line for horses four years old and upward willing to go one mile on Santa Anita's turf track.

Lochte - Marcus Vitali trained gelding failed to place in his first two career starts but has hit the board in his other eight career starts including three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. He enters off his best career performance - a win in the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap at 39-1 odds February 9 after having won two of his previous three starts - an Allowance Optional Claiming January 24 and a maiden win December 14 in his seventh career start. He starts from the rail just as he in the GP Turf Handicap with Orlando Boccachica retaining the mount. Lochte will be the 123 pound highweight for the Kilroe.
Suggestive Boy - made his US debut after three straight wins in Grade 1 races in Argentina with a very good second in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile on June 30, 2012. He followed that with a win in the Wickerr Stakes on July 25 and a pair of fifth place finishes in a pair of Grade 1 races - the Pacific Classic Stakes and the Awesome Again Stakes here last September. He has won two straight at this time last year - the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes at here February 2 and last year's edition o the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes on March 2. Last time out was a fifth in the Grade 2 Arcadia February 1. Suggestive Boy has won three of his last seven starts but what's interesting in that in the other four races he has failed to hit the board. Joe Talamo gets the call from post 4 as Suggestive Boy looks to rebound from disappointment last time out.

Winning Prize - multiple Grade 1 winner and Argentinean bred colt had eight starts at home with five wins and a second place finish including two straight wins (the Grade 1 Joaquin S. de Anchorena in December being the last). He has just four starts since - an Allowance Optional Claiming score in his North American debut at Del Mar August 22 after a nine month layoff, an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile October 5 at Keeneland, a decent third in the Grade 2 Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park November 29 and a terrific win last time out over Tom's Tribute and Suggestive Boy in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes here February 1. Winning Prize starts from gate 6 with Corey Nakatani in the saddle.
Regally Ready - Steve Asmussen trainee won the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in 2011 - the last time he tasted victory before an Allowance score at Keeneland in October 2013. He also had an Allowance Optional Claiming score on turf here January 1 after a fourth in a similar race in November. Last time out was a good third in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes on this track February 1. He has placed in just three of his last 12 starts overall but those came in the form of wins and a good third in his last four starts. Regally Ready has four wins and three third place finishes on Santa Anita lawn and will have Mike Smith aboard Saturday from post 2.
Optimizer - finished eleventh in the 2012 Kentucky Derby and went on to a disappointing eleventh in the Breeders' Cup that year. In 2013 he won the Grade 2 Colonel E.R. Bradley Handicap and the Grade 3 Fair Grounds Handicap February 23 to start his year and stumbled a tad after that only to rebound with a second in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 4 - beaten by only reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan. He followed that with a third in the Grade 2 Dixie Stakes at Pimlico May 18 and continued his good run with another solid result - a second in the Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap behind Point of Entry June 8. Optimizer most recently recorded a DNF in the Grade 1 Sword Dancer August 17 at Saratoga after a fifth in the Grade 1 Man o' War Stakes July 13. Optimizer hasn't tasted victory since February 2013 but he has faced the best in the land and has fared well. Luis Saez gets the call from post 3.

Za Approval - raced in stakes company for the first time in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes last February 23 and finished fourth but followed that with a very nice win in the Grade 3 Appleton Stakes at Gulfstream March 30 and another Grade 3 score - the Red Bank Stakes at Monmouth May 18. He raced to a second in the Woodbine Mile September 15 behind Wise Dan after a second in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile behind Obviously at Hollywood Park June 29 and recorded his best career result October 12 - a win in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park. Last time out Za Approval continued to prove uber-competitive - a second in the Breeders' Cup Mile. He has won four of his last eight starts with three seconds all last year for trainer Christophe Clement and enters the Kilroe in good form. He leaves from gate 5 with Joel Rosario aboard.
Silentio - made his stakes debut with a terrific win in the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort Stakes at Santa Anita December 26, 2012 and followed that with an OK third in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita February 2, a nice second in the 2013 Frank E. Kilroe Mile March 3 and a disappointing fifth in the Grade 1 Maker's 46 Mile April 12. Last time out he ended a five race losing streak and posted the win on the Grade 2 Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park way back on November 29. This after a pair of decent thirds - in the Breeders' Cup Mile at 31-1 odds and in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile August 25. He placed in four of his last five starts last year and in nine of 10 career starts and is trending upward ahead of this weekend. Rafael Bejarano gets the mount from post 9.
Lakerville - makes his graded stakes debut Saturday but has had some success in minor stakes action recently. Lakerville is coming off a second in the Sensational Star Stakes February 22 after a win in the Clocker's Corner Stakes January 26 - both results on this track. Before that was a pair of starts at Del Mar - a second in the Green Flash Handicap in August and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in July. He is used to being at or near the top in his career - five wins and three seconds in eight starts. Kent Desormeauz has the call from the outside post.
Tom's Tribute - has eight career starts for trainer James Cassidy with three wins and three seconds and entered the Sir Beaufort on a two race win streak - in the overnight Uniformity Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths on the hillside turf track here October 20 which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score also here September 29. He finished sixth in the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort December 26 but bounce back with a good second in his only start of 2014 - the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes here February 1. Gary Stevens will be in the saddle from post 8.
Horizontallyspeakin - is coming off an Allowance Optional Claiming score for trainer John Sadler after an ugly eighth in his stakes debut - the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort here December 26. He has just 10 career starts with three wins and a third place finish - he looks to be in tough against this quality field this weekend.
