2016 Raven Run Stakes Race Preview at Keeneland Race Course

Lightstream 3-1 - Brian Lynch trained filly has five career starts and three impressive wins - all the wins at seven furlongs. Last time out was a respectable second in the G1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 6 after an OK third in the G1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park July 2. Before that were wins in the minor Soaring Softly Stakes May 21, the G3 Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland April 17 and a maiden score by 2 1/4 lengths with a 104 Beyer Speed Figure at first asking. Lightstream had been impressive and will be after her second graded stakes score from the outside gate 12. Julien Leparoux will be in the irons of the tepid morning line favorite.

Lucy N Ethel 9-2 - lightly raced Thomas Amoss trained filly has four career starts and four wins. She hit the track for the first time in nine months September 4 and posted a great win - with a career-best 100 Beyer Speed Figure in the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga after a good win in her stakes debut - the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes at Gulfstream Park January 2, She's also posted an Allowance score at Parx in December and a maiden score at first asking at Parx in November. Lucy N Ethel has been untouchable so far and hopes to keep the roll going from gate 4 Saturday. Corey Lanerie has been tabbed to ride the second betting choice.

Sophia's Song 5-1 - has placed in all six career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher - three wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She posted a nice three race win streak early this year - the best of which came in dominant fashion in the minor Caesar's Wish Stakes at Laurel Park in March. She was away from the track for five months before returning August 12 to a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga and also had a 6 1/4 length Allowance score in December at Gulfstream Park. Last time out was a decent third behind Covey Trace in her graded stakes debut - the G3 Charles Town Oaks September 17. Sophia's Song has been a factor in every race so far and looks for a first graded stakes score Saturday. Robby Albarado will be in the saddle of the third choice from gate 10.

Bellamentary 6-1 - has placed in six of seven career starts for trainer Phil D'Amato - three wins and three runner-up finishes. She enters on the heels of two of her runner-up finishes - the G3 Torrey Pines Stakes last time out at Del Mar August 28 and the G2 Summertime Oaks at Santa Anita June 10. Before that was a good win in the minor Angels Flight Stakes at Santa Anita May 15 and a fifth in the G1 Santa Anita Oaks in April. Bellamentary will chase her first graded stakes score and enters in decent form. She leaves from gate 6 with Martin Garcia aboard.

Curlin's Approval 8-1 - has three wins in her four career starts for trainer Martin Wolfson - all at Gulfstream. She arrives on a good two race win streak - the minor Added Elegance Stakes August 28 and an Allowance Optional Claiming July 22. Before that was a fifth in the minor Azalea Stakes July 2 and a maiden score at first asking in June. Curlin's Approval has been good lately and hopes to continue the roll in her graded stakes debut. Tyler Gaffalione has been tabbed to ride from gate 8.

Coniah 10-1 - Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly has three wins, two seconds and two third place finishes in 12 career starts. She made her graded stakes debut August 17 and finished a reasonable third against older competition in the G3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap and followed that with a sixth in the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 4 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out September 29 at Belmont Park. She also posted a second in the minor California Governor's Cup Handicap at Sacramento July 23, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita in January, a eighth in the minor Blue Norther Stakes in December and a fifth in the minor Golden Gate Debutante in November. She has placed in four of her last five starts ahead of this weekend - decent form and will have Joe Bravo guiding her from post 9.

Southern Girl 12-1 - highly regarded Larry Jones trained filly has four wins and a third place finish in her five career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off a nice win against older females in the minor Shine Again Stakes at Laurel Park September 10 after two straight Allowance Optional Claiming scores this past summer. Southern Girl has been a factor in every race in her career so far and hopes to be again Saturday from post 5. Florent Geroux has the mount in her step up in competition.

Takrees 12-1 - Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly has two wins, three seconds and a third place finishes in seven eight starts. She made her graded stakes debut last time out and finished a respectable third behind Lucy N Ethel at 20-1 odds in the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 4 after a first-level Allowance score on that track July 22, a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming May 1 and consecutive seconds - the best of which coming behind Lost Raven in the minor Cicada Stakes at Aqueduct in March. Takrees has been OK and will be after her first stakes score from post 11. Ricardo Santana gets the call.

Ma Can Do It 12-1 - Dale Romans trained filly has placed in seven of 10 career starts - one win, four seconds and two third place finishes. She finally broke maiden last time out - at Churchill Downs October 1 after a third and a fourth respectively in similar races in the summer. She had a respectable second in the G2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico in May before that and she posted a decent third in the G1 Darley Alcibiades here a year ago. Ma Can Do It has been OK in her career so far and will be searching for a first graded stakes score from gate 2. Channing Hill has the mount.

Grace's Treasure 15-1 - Michael Ewing trained filly has five career starts with two wins and a third place finish. She enters off an OK third in her stakes debut - the minor Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs September 24. Before that was a two race wins streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming August 10 at Indiana Grand August 10 and a maiden score at Ellis Park in July. She has been OK lately and will be after her first stakes score from post 3. Jesus Lopez Castanon gets the call.

Covey Trace 15-1 - has 11 career starts for trainer William Denzik with four wins, a second and three third place finishes. She enters having won three of her last four starts - the G3 Charles Town Oaks last time out September 17 and two Allowance Optional Claiming races including two starts back with a good 85 Beyer Speed Figure - by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths. She had an eighth in the minor TaWee Stakes at Indiana Grand sandwiched in there and had another eighth in her only other stakes action to date. Covey Trace rides a nice two race win streak into Saturday and will be looking for a second straight graded stakes victory from the rail. Brian Joseph Hernandez rides.

Malibu Stacy 30-1 - George Waver trained filly will make her tenth career start Saturday having posted two wins, a second and a third place finish so far. Last time out was a ninth in the minor Christiecat Stakes at Belmont Park September 9 which followed an Allowance score at Saratoga August 18, a decent second in the G3 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont Park July 9 and a maiden score on that track in June. Malibu Stacy looks for a strong bounce back when she departs from post 7 with Gabriel Saez in the irons.
