2016 Forego Stakes Race Preview at Saratoga Race Course

A. P. Indian 5-2 - Arnaud Delacour trained gelding has placed in 13 of 15 career starts - an impressive nine wins and four runner-up finishes. He enters on a four race win streak - the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes last time out on this track July 30, the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship Stakes July 9, the minor Donald LeVine Memorial (for the second year in a row) at Parx and the minor Decathlon Stakes at Monmouth Park in May. Before that were a pair uncharacteristic sixths in stakes races to end his 2015 campaign. A. P. Indian has been competitive virtually every time out and will be after his fifth straight stakes score form post 11. Joe Bravo gets the call on this sizzling gelding and morning line favorite.

Marking 3-1 - lightly raced Kiaran McLaughlin trained colt has three wins and two second place finishes in eight career starts. He enters off a good second behind A.P. Indian in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship at Belmont Park July 9 after a fourth in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap June 11, another fourth in the Group 2 Godolphin Mile at Meydan March 26 and a Handicap score on that track in February and a DNF two weeks earlier. He also had a second in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita in December and wins in his first two career starts. Marking has been OK so far and will be out for his biggest win to date - from an unfortunate outside gate 12 with Joel Rosario aboard the morning line second choice.

Catalina Red 8-1 - Jorge Navarro trained colt looked terrific this past spring - a win in the minor Hilton Garden Inn/Hampton Inn and Suites Sprint at Tampa Bay in April was followed by a breakthrough victory at 14-1 odds over Calculator and Kobe's Back in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes May 7. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on this track July 30 after a fourth in the Grade 2 True North Stakes at Belmont Park June 10. He also had minor stakes wins in August of 2015 and two more in 2014. Catalina Red has won three of his last six starts overall including the nice graded stakes score three starts back. He arrives in decent form and will have Luis Saez guiding the co-third choice from the rail.

Stallwalkin' Dude 8-1 - David Jacobson trained gelding has 15 wins, four seconds and six third place finishes in 43 career starts and enters in OK form. Last time out was a win in the minor Tale of the Cat Stakes here August 12 after a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Belmont Park July 14 and consecutive fifths - the minor Diablo Stakes in May and the Grade 1 Carter Handicap in April. Before that was an Allowance score at Parx March 21, a third in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap March 12 and a fifth in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector Stakes at Gulfstream Park December 19. He also a third in the 2015 Grade 1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park September 26, a win in the 2015 Tale of the Cat Stakes at Saratoga August 23, a second in the minor Teddy Drone Stakes August 2 and a third in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship in July, 2015. Stallwalkin Dude had failed to place in three starts prior to his Allowance win last time out and will look to build on that effort from gate 8. Irad Ortiz has been scheduled to ride the other co-third betting choice.

Ready for Rye 10-1 - 2015 Grade 2 Swale Stakes winner, Thomas Albertrani trained gelding has placed in 14 of 15 career starts - five wins, four seconds and five third place finishes. He enters off consecutive thirds - behind A.P. Indian and Marking in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship July 9 and the Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational June 11 after consecutive seconds - the minor Diablo Stakes in May and the Grade 3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland in April. Ready for Rye has been knocking on the door and will be out for his first win in nearly a year Saturday when he leaves from post 9 with John Velazquez aboard.

Chief Lion 10-1 - David Jacobson trained gelding has seven wins, four seconds and six third place finishes in 29 career starts. He has placed in six straight races ahead of this weekend - a second last time out in the minor Tale of the Cat Stakes here August 12 followed a third in the Grade 3 Smile Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park July 2 and three straight Allowance Optional Claiming scores around the country. Chief Lion has been decent indeed and will be after his first stakes score from gate 2 Saturday. Florent Geroux rides.

Anchor Down 10-1 - Todd Pletcher trained Ringling has 15 career starts with four wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. He posted an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Belmont Park last July but failed to place in his next five starts including a fifth in the Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin Stakes in August and a fourth after getting DQ'd from third in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap March 5, 2015. He arrives off a sixth in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes here July 30 after a respectable second behind Frosted in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park June 11 and a career-best effort - a win by an impressive 6 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Westchester Stakes on that track May 7. Before that were consecutive fourths - the Grade 1 Carter Handicap April 9 and the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap in March. Anchor Down had been trending upward before last time out and will be after a strong bounce back from post 5. Jose Ortiz rides.

Tamarkuz 15-1 - Kiaran McLaughlin trainee has seven wins and two runner-up finishes in 17 career starts. He was terrific at the beginning of 2015 when he posted three straight wins at Meydan including a Group 3 race and the Group 2 Godolphin Mile but he hasn't been great in his four North American starts. Last time out was a ninth in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park June 11 after a fourth in the Grade 2 Kelso Handicap October 3, a sixth in the 2015 Forego Stakes and a fourth in last year's edition of the Grade 1 Met Handicap. Tamarkuz has shown form in the past but will be out to snap a funk Saturday from gate 6.Mike Smith gets the call.

Limousine Liberal 15-1 - has three wins and four runner-up finishes in nine career starts for trainer Ben Colebrook. He enters on the heels of consecutive runner-up finishes - the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Stakes last time out at Gulfstream Park August 2 and the Grade 3 Aristides Stakes at Churchill Downs June 4. Before that was a sixth in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes in May, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Keeneland in April and an eleventh in the Breeders' Cup Sprint. He also has second place finishes in a pair of graded stakes last summer including the Grade 1 King's Bishop Stakes on this track. Limousine Liberal has been knocking on the door and will be after his first stakes win from post 3 Saturday with Javier Castellano guiding him.

Schivarelli 20-1 - has placed in 10 of 14 career starts for trainer Eddie Kenneally - four wins, three seconds and three third place finishes. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track August 8 which followed a second in the minor Kelly's Landing Stakes at Churchill Downs July 2 and a fifth in the Grade 3 Artisides Stakes on that track in June. He placed in four straight races before that including a second in the 2015 minor Kelly's Landing Stakes. Schivarelli has been OK in his career but will need a special effort Saturday. Rafael Bejarano has been tabbed with accomplishing that goal from post 7.

The Truth Or Else 30-1 - Kenneth McPeek trained colt has four wins, three seconds and five third place finishes in 22 career starts. He was at his best in 2014/2015 when he finished third in a pair of graded stakes races and had a second in the 2015 Grade 3 Southwest Stakes. He has been just OK since - a fifth in the minor Tale of the Cat Stakes last time out here August 12 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Belmont Park July 14, a sixth, a third and a second respectively in a trio of Allowance Optional Claiming races this year. He will be after his first stakes score Saturday when he departs from gate 4 with Ricardo Santana in the irons.

Dannie's Deceiver 30-1 - David Cannizzo trained colt has three wins and three seconds in 11 career starts. He makes his graded stakes debut in decent form - a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Belmont Park July 14 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track June 11, a second and another win respectively in a pair of similar races in the spring. Dannie's Deceiver arrives in career best form for his step up and will have Manuel Franco in the saddle from gate 10.
