2017 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap Entries at Gulfstream Park

Divisidero 2-1 - William Bradley trainee has four wins, a second and three third place finishes in nine career starts. He was last seen January 14 when he finished third as favorite behind Flatlined and Almanaar in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes on this track. Before that was a fifth in the G1 Manhattan Stakes at Belmont Park June 11, a good win in the G1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 7, a second in the G3 Appleton Stakes at Gulfstream in April and a third in the G3 Canadian Turf Stakes in February. He also had a disappointing seventh in the G1 Belmont Derby Invitational in July, 2015 and consecutive stakes wins - the minor $200,000 Pennine Ridge Stakes May 30, 2015 and the G2 American Turf Stakes four weeks earlier at Churchill Downs. Divisidero has been competitive for sure placing in four of his last five starts overall. He shoots for his second graded stakes score in four starts Saturday on a track that he has not been worse than third in five starts - from gate 6 with Edgar Prado in the irons of the morning line favorite.

Beach Patrol 5-2 - Chad Brown trained colt has placed nine of 10 career starts - three wins, four seconds and two third place finishes. He enters off a pair of respectable runner-up finishes - the G1 Hollywood Derby last time out at Del Mar December 3 and in the G3 Hill Prince Stakes at Belmont Park October 8 which followed a career-best effort - a win in the G1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington August 13 and an OK third in the G1 Belmont Derby Invitational. Before that was a disappointing sixth in the G3 Penn Mile June 4 and a respectable second in the G2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs May 7. Beach Patrol has been competitive every time except for on bad outing and will be out for his second G1 stakes win in four starts when he leaves from gate 4 with Florent Geroux aboard the second betting choice.

Lukes Alley 6-1 - 2014 Sovereign Award winner as champion older horse in Canada and last year's winner in this race has been good in limited action the last 24 months. He enters two disappointing results however - a seventh last time out in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes here January 14 and a fifth in the G2 Autumn Stakes at Woodbine November 6 and nine months away from the track. Before the layoff was a great win in the 2016 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap in February and three straight runner-up finishes - the 2016 G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes January 9, the G2 Autumn Stakes November 8, 2015 and the G3 Durham Cup Stakes October 3 of that year. He also posted an Allowance score by 2 3/4 lengths September 12, 2015 and wins in the 2014 Autumn Stakes and 2014 Durham Cup Stakes. He now has eight wins and four second place finishes in 16 career starts and has six wins and four seconds in his last 12 overall. Lukes Alley tries to get back to his 2014/2015 form when he leaves from post 3 Saturday with Luis Saez guiding him.

Almanaar 6-1 - British bred Chad Brown trained colt has placed in nine of 13 career starts. He won three of his last four starts in Europe before shipping including the Group 2 Prix Paul de Moussac June 15, 2015 and the Group 3 Prix Daphnis June 29 of that year - both at Chantilly. He has three North American starts and has improved every time out - a decent second last time out behind Flatlined in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes on this track January 14 followed a third in a Allowance Optional Claiming October 19 and a fourth in a similar race September 17 - both at Belmont Park. Almanaar was good at home and hopes to make a statement on North American soil from gate 2. Joel Rosario rides.

Flatlined 8-1 - late blooming Charles Dickey trained gelding has 19 career starts with five wins, four seconds and two third place finishes. He enters on the heels of a career-best effort - a win at 15-1 odds over Diversido and Lukes Alley in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes on this track January 14. It followed consecutive runner-up finishes - in the minor El Prado Stakes on this track December 17 and in an Allowance Optional Claiming November 11. Before that was a fifth in an Allowance at Keeneland October 15, an eighth in the G2 Commonwealth Turf Cup at Laurel Park September 24 and consecutive wins - the best coming in the minor Old Friends Stakes at Kentucky Downs September 8. Flatlined has placed in three straight ahead of this week and has certainly been trending upward. Joe Bravo will try to keep the roll going on the intriguing fifth choice and 120 pound highweight from post 5.

All Included 10-1 - defending third place finisher in this race - Todd Pletcher trainee has been OK in his 15 race career - four wins, a second and three third place finishes. Last time out was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming January 15 after an eighth in the G3 Appleton Stakes back in April and a sixth in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes in March - all on this track. Before that was a decent third in the G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap February 6, another third in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes here January 9, 2016, a fifth in the G3 Tropical Turf Handicap at Gulfstream Park West November 21, 2015 another fifth in the G3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park October 10 of that year and an OK third in the G2 Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga September 7 of 2015. All Included looks for his first stakes score Saturday and first win overall since July, 2015 when he leaves from the outside gate 8 with Javier Castellano guiding him.

Eirigh 12-1 - has 19 career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher with five wins, two seconds and two third place finishes. Last time out was an Allowance score at Tampa Bay January 16 after 14 months away from the track, a sixth in the G2 Autumn Stakes November 8, 2015 and an Allowance score October 17 of 2015. Eirigh has failed to place in his three career graded stakes starts and hopes for a major breakthough in just his second start in 15 months. Jose Lezcano has the mount.

War Correspondent 12-1 - third place finisher in this race in 2015 went on to a great win in the G3 Appleton Stakes on this track in March, 2015. He only has four starts since and hasn't been all that impressive - a seventh in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes here last January was followed by an eighth in the G3 Tampa Bay Stakes a year ago nine months away from the track, a fourth in the G3 Tropical Turf Handicap at Gulfstream Park West November 26 and a third last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track January 6. War Correspondent now has four wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 12 career starts and has been just so-so in the leadup to this weekend.
