2017 Barbara Fritchie Stakes Entries at Laurel Park

By the Moon 2-1 - winner of the 2014 G1 Frizette Stakes - Michelle Nevin trained filly has four wins, five seconds and a third place finish in 14 career starts. Last time out was a respectable second behind High Ridge Road in the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes on this track December 31 which followed an OK fifth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and another quality runner-up finish in the G1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 27. Before that was one of her wins - the G3 Bed o' Roses Handicap at Belmont Park June 15, a fourth in the G3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 17 and eight months away. Before the layoff she had a third in the G1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 8, 2015 and consecutive runner-up finishes - the G1 Acorn Stakes last June 6 at Belmont Park and the minor Parx Oaks in May of 2015. She also had a win in the minor Caesar's Wish Stakes in March, 2015. By the Moon has placed in seven of her last nine starts overall and will be looking for her second graded stakes from post 3. Victor Carrasco has the mount on the morning line favorite.

High Ridge Road 5-2 - has placed in nine of 10 career starts for trainer Linda Rice - four wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. She enters off a good win in the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes on this track December 31 which followed a decent second in her only graded stakes action to date - the G3 Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct December 3, a fourth in the minor Lady's Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park July 4 and two straight Allowance scores at Laurel Park in the spring. High Ridge Road has been decent so far in winning three of her last five races and will be after a second straight stakes score from the rail on a track that she is a perfect 3-0. Horacio Karamanos has been tabbed to ride the second betting choice.

Wonder Gal 9-2 - defending fifth place finisher in this race Leah Gyarmati trained mare has four wins, two seconds and six third place finishes in 17 career starts and has four G1 placings. Last time out was a win by an incredible 13 1/2 lengths in the Ladies Handicap at Aqueduct January 13 which followed a decent third in the G3 Go for Wand Handicap on that track December 3 and a tenth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. Before that was a fifth in the G2 Gallant Bloom Handicap at Belmont Park October 1, an Allowance Optional Claiming score by 11 lengths at Saratoga September 2, another fifth in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes at Laurel Park in February, a third in the Ladies Handicap at Aqueduct January 10, 2016 and another third in the G3 Comely Stakes November 28, 2015. She's also had a second in the G2 Mother Goose Stakes in June, 2015 and a third in the 2014 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Wonder Gal has been in there with some top field and has been OK for the most part. She still hasn't recorded a graded stakes win and hopes to change all of that with Kendrick Carmouche guiding her from the outside gate 8.

Takrees 6-1 - Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly has three wins, four seconds and a third place finishes in 11 eight starts. She made her graded stakes debut four starts back and finished a respectable third behind Lucy N Ethel at 20-1 odds in the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga September 4 and followed that with a disappointing seventh in the G2 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland October 22, an OK second in the minor Safely Kept Stakes on this track in November and a nice win last time out in the minor Interborough Stakes at Aqueduct January 22. Takrees has been OK so far in her career, has two runner-up finishes in two starts on this track and has been trending upward ahead of this weekend. She seeks her first graded stakes score Saturday with Irad Ortiz aboard from gate 6.

Clothes Fall Off 8-1 -defending runner-up in this race has placed in 10 of 13 career starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin - four wins and six runner-up finishes but has struggled in her last two starts overall. Last time out was a fifth behind Takrees in the minor Interborough Stakes at Aqueduct January 22 after nine months away and an eighth in the G1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland back in April. Before the layoff was a nice win in the minor Correction Stakes at Aqueduct March 19, a second in the 2016 Barbara Fritchie Stakes February 13 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score in track record time at Aqueduct January 14, 2016. Clothes Falls Off chases her first graded stakes win Saturday looking to regain the form that saw her competitive every time out at this time last year. Rajiv Maragh will be in the irons from post 7.

Sweet On Smokey 12-1 - defending fourth place finisher in this race has 10 wins, eight seconds and five third place finishes in 35 career starts for trainer Claudio Gonzalez. She has placed in four of her last five starts ahead of this weekend - a nice win last time out in the minor What A Summer Stakes on this track January 14 followed a fourth in the minor Willa On the Move Stakes here December 10 and three straight runner-up finishes including a Starter Allowance here in November and the minor Pin Ribbon Stakes at Charles Town on September. Sweet On Smokey looks for her first graded stakes score and does so in decent form. Jevian Toledo will be in the saddle from post 5.

Regia Marina 12-1 - Eoin Harty trained mare has hit the board in 12 of 16 career starts. She enters off her first ever stakes win - the minor Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Distaff Stakes at Mahoning Valley November 21 after a disappointing sixth in the G2 Presque Isle Downs Masters in September and a respectable third in the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes at Woodbine August 27. Before that was a two race win streak - an Allowance at Presque Isle Downs July 17 and another Allowance at Arlington June 17. Regia Marina has won three of her last five starts overall and has shown five sharp bullet works at Tampa Bay ahead of this week - in decent form. She will be chasing a first ever graded stakes win from gate 4. Trevor McCarthy gets the call.

Rowd E Allie 20-1 - Kelly Breen trained mare has six wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 18 career starts. She makes her stakes debut Saturday on a three race win streak - all Allowance races at Parx after failing to place in her previous four. Rowd E Allie has found another gear lately and arrives in career best form. She chases a career-defining win from gate 2 Saturday with Feargal Lynch guiding her.
