Injuries continue to take out Kentucky Derby contenders with the latest casualty being Out of Bounds. The horse suffered a condylar fracture of the left front cannon bone and was scheduled for surgery. Trainer Eoin Harty said the horse should be fine but that he won't be ready for any of the Triple Crown races this year. Out of Bounds joins Algorithms, who is out of Kentucky Derby contention due to a splint bone injury.
Gulfstream Park's turf track takes center stage on Sunday March 11th with the 28th running of the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes. Three year olds are featured in the Palm Beach that is run over 1 1/8 miles for a $150,000 purse.
The 60th running of the Grade 2 Las Flores Stakes comes our way this weekend from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. A $100,000 purse is up for grabs on Sunday March 11th for fillies and mares four years old and up over a distance of six and a half furlongs on Santa Anita's main track.
The 13th running of the Grade 3 Swale Stakes comes our way from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida this Saturday, March 10th. The race is open to three year olds with some serious intentions. The Swale will cover seven furlongs for a $150,000 purse.

The race covers 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's main dirt track and features three year olds trying to position themselves for the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby in April and more importantly for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 5th.

The 75th running of the $750,000 Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap is on tap this Saturday, March 3 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. "The Big Cap" features horses four-and-up that are willing to race 1 1/4 miles on Santa Anita's main track. The Handicap is the feature event on a day that has three Grade 1 Stakes races on its card. It should be a fun day culminating with a very competitive race for older horses in which there are no less than six graded stakes winners.
