2013 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Race Favorite Entries

Groupie Doll - reigning Eclipse Award winner for Female Sprinter and defending champion in this race placed in all nine of her 2012 starts including wins in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes and the 2012 version of this race but has just three starts since a second place finish in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct November 24 - only one win. She started 2013 with an OK third in the Grade 3 Gardenia at Ellis Park August 10 and then went on to win the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Masters September 9. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 5. She has placed in her last 13 starts with seven wins and despite only winning once this year and being lightly raced is the 5-2 morning line favorite Saturday. Raviv Maragh gets the call from post 11.

Dance to Bristol - has finished with first or second in 18 of her 19 career starts. She had a terrific seven race win streak interrupted last time out with a second in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom at Belmont Park September 21. Dance to Bristol is currently listed at 5-1 odds and departs from post 8 with Xavier Perez in the saddle.

Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint 2013 | Remaining Contenders

Book Review - Bob Baffert trained filly had a very impressive win in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes over Reneesgotzip and the dominant My Miss Aurelia on December 26 after a disappointing fifth in the Grade 1 Gazelle. She started 2013 with a pair of good seconds - the Grade 2 Santa Maria as 11-10 favorite and the Grade 2 La Canada before that. Last time out was another second - in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes August 23 after her only win in four starts this year - the Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap at Hollywood Park July 13. She has six wins and two seconds in her last 10 starts overall and should be considered a threat Saturday. She starts from post 2 with Rafael Bejarano in the reins at 6-1 odds.

Teddy's Promise - Teddy's Promise is a graded stakes winner that finished eighth in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint before a win in the minor Kalookan Queen Stakes December 29 by 5 1/4 lengths and a convincing three length win in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes January 26. She followed that with a decent second in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes at Santa Anita March 10 and a pair of good results in minor stakes starts. Teddy's Promise is coming off her third win of the year - the minor L.A. Woman Stakes here October 5 after an OK second in the Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap at Hollywood Park in July. Victor Espinoza gets the call and will line up in post 5 at 6-1 odds.

Judy the Beauty - Wesley Ward trained filly has five wins and six seconds and a third in 12 career starts but is coming off a career defining win - the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 5 after an OK third in the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Maters September 9. Before that was a pair of good seconds - in the Grade 1 Princess Rooney Handicap behind Starship Truffles at Calder July 6 after a second in the Grade 3 Winning Colors at Churchill Downs in May. Starship Truffles - Martin Woolfson trained filly has had a very good year so far - 10 starts with five wins and a second place finish. She has two wins and a third in her last four starts overall and her recent Grade 1 score proves she belongs. Starship Truffels will have Gary Stevens in the saddle from post 3 at 15-1 odds.

Great Hot - Brazilian bred Great was a distant ninth in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint and followed that with a third in the Kalookan Queen Stakes to end her 2012 campaign. She will have Mike Smith in the saddle from post 6 at 20-1 odds Saturday.

Renee's Titan - started her year with a terrific win in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez on this track in January but has struggled since. A pair of eighths followed that score - the Grade 1 Las Virgenes and the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes and what came next was a disaster - a thirteenth in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs in May. Last time out was a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here October 10 after five months away. She lines up from the rail and is the longest shot in the field at 30-1 odds.
