OffTrackBetting.com - The G1 Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile will be contested this Saturday, November 5 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Two year old colts and geldings will take to Santa Anita's dirt track and race 1 1/16 miles for the winner's share of the $2 million purse.
A field of 11 two year olds have been confirmed for the BC Juvenile - race 8 on Santa Anita's Breeders' Cup Saturday card. Post time is 2:43 PM. Let's take a look into the past performances of all 11 combatants for this important G1 stakes.
Not This Time 7-2 - will race for the third time for trainer Dale Romans having posted two wins so far. Last time out was a good win in the G3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs September 17 which followed a maiden score August 12 at Ellis Park and a fifth in his debut. Not This Time has improved every time out and will be out to keep the roll going from gate 10 with Robby Albarado guiding the tepid morning line favorite.
Classic Empire 4-1 - Mark Casse trained colt had been very good in his first two career starts - two wins - in the G3 Bashford Manor Stakes with an impressive 105 Beyer Speed Figure July 2 and a maiden score at first asking May 4 - both results at Churchill Downs . He followed that with a very disappointing DNF as favorite after losing his rider in the G1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga September 5 and bounced back most recently with a good win in the G1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland October 8. Classic Empire now has three wins in four career starts against some pretty good fields and is expected to be in the mix again Saturday. Gormley 5-1 - John Shirreffs trained colt will hit the track for the third time looking to remain undefeated in his career. He looks to make it three-for-three and looks good to do so this weekend. Victor Espinoza gets the call on the intriguing 5-1 shot from post 7.
Klimt 6-1 - Bob Baffert trained colt has been impressive in his five career starts - three wins and a second place finish so far. He debuted with a fourth at Santa Anita June 25 and then reeled off three good wins - in the G1 Del Mar Futurity by 4 1/4 lengths with a career best 103 Beyer Speed Figure September 5, in the G2 Best Pal Stakes by 6 1/2 lengths at Del Mar August 13 and a nice maiden score at Santa Anita July 10. His only starts were good ones - a nice 5 1/2 length maiden score with an 85 Beyer Speed Figure at Saratoga July 30 and a terrific score in the G3 Futurity Stakes last time out at Belmont Park October 15. He's looked dangerous in his only career and has trained well in preparation for this race. Javier Castellano is scheduled to ride the intriguing 12-1 shot from gate 4.
Lookin at Lee 20-1 - impressive Steve Asmussen trained colt finished fifth in his debut but has looked very good in four starts since. Last time out was a respectable second in the G1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland October 8 after another second in the G3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs September 17, a good win in the minor Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes August 8 and a maiden score on that track July 22. Lookin at Lee has been competitive lately and could be so again on Saturday. Ricardo Santana will be in the irons from the outside post 11.
