Santa Monica Stakes at Santa Anita - $300,000 (G1)

The 55th running of the Grade 1 Santa Monica Stakes takes place on Saturday, January 28th for fillies and mares four years old and upward. The $300,000 purse will be contested at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The race covers seven furlongs and is raced on Santa Anita's main dirt track. Seven entries will run in the 9th race on Saturday's card with a post time of 4:00 PM PT.


Florida Sunshine Millions at Gulfstream

Saturday January 28th is Florida Sunshine Millions Day at Gulfstream Park. It promises to be a tremendous day of racing - one that has brought together 48 of the best horses in the country to vie for a total of $1.3 million in purse money. Six races are on tap featuring Florida-breds exclusively on a schedule that features at least one graded stakes winner in every race.

The 2011 Eclipse Awards were handed out last Monday night in Beverley Hills in an elaborate ceremony that fans across country could only view online. The Daily Racing Form, National Thoroughbred Racing Association and National Turf Writers Association all came together as they do every year to determine this year's winners.

The 38th running of the $150,000 Grade 2 La Cañada Stakes comes our way on Sunday, January 22nd at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The race features four-year-old fillies and it covers a distance of 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's main track.


The Palos Verdes Stakes at Santa Anita - $150,000 (G2)

The Grade 2 Palos Verdes Stakes is on tap for this Saturday, January 21st at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The race is open to horses age four and up and it covers 6 furlongs on Santa Anita's dirt track. A $150,000 purse will be up for grabs in the 8th race on Saturday's card. Post time for the Palos Verdes is 4:07 PM PST.


The LeComte Stakes at Fair Grounds - $175,000 (G3)

The Grade 3 $175,000 LeComte Stakes will take place on Saturday, January 21 at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is open to 3-year-olds and will be run over 1 mile and 40 yards (8.2 furlongs) on the Fair Grounds' dirt main track. The LeComte is an important prep race for trainers hoping to take part in the $1 million Louisiana Derby, and potentially the Kentucky Derby later this year.


The Col. E. R. Bradley Handicap at Fair Grounds - $100,000 (G3)

The 25th running of the Grade 3 Colonel E.R. Bradley Handicap is on tap this weekend as a part of The Fair Grounds' Road to the Derby Kickoff Day. The race features older horses four years old and up and is contested over 1 1/16 miles on The Fair Grounds Turf track. A purse of $100,000 is up for grabs in what is sure to be a very intriguing race.


The San Gabriel Stakes at Santa Anita - $150,000 (G2)

The 65th running of the San Gabriel Stakes Stakes is on tap for Santa Anita Park on Monday, January 16, 2012. It is the third $150,000 race in three days at Santa Anita. The difference in this race is that it will be contested on turf rather than Santa Anita's main dirt surface. The San Gabriel Stakes is open to older horses - four-years-old and up and it covers 1 1/8 miles. The race has attracted a solid group of six entries all trying to gain some traction early in the 2012 racing season.


Hal's Hope S. & Fort Lauderdale S. headline Gulfstream Saturday

Gulfstream Park on Saturday will offer a pair of $100,000 Grade 3 stakes races with Jackson Bend favored in the Hal's Hope while Mutual Trust is favored in the Fort Lauderdale.


The Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita - $150,000 (G2)

The 61st running of the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes takes place this weekend - Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Santa Anita Park. The second $150,000 race of the weekend at Santa Anita Park features three-year-old fillies and covers 6 1/2 furlongs on Santa Anita's dirt track.
