August 2, 2011 -- Bob Baffert, now age 58, has thrice been honored with Eclipse Awards as North America's outstanding horse trainer. And he was a 2009 inductee to the National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, New York.
July 29, 2011 -- Two high profile horses will be going up against each other on Sunday in the $1 million dollar Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. Preakness winner Shackleford takes on Belmont Stakes winner Ruler On Ice. The winner of Sunday's race that can be seen live on ABC gets an automatic spot in November's Breeders' Cup Classic.
July 28, 2011 -- Fifty-seven horses have been nominated for this year's 42nd running of the Grade 2, $750,000 West Virginia Derby. The 1 1/8-mile event for three-year-olds will anchor a nine-race card comprised entirely of stakes on Saturday afternoon, August 6, at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort.
July 26, 2011 -- It is somewhat rare when you get a stakes race in the middle of the week but that will be the case on Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course with the Grade 2 $150,000 Lake George Stakes . The race has some high profile entrants led by Winter Memories, who is the even money favorite in horse betting.
July 24, 2011 -- Hilvers' and Johnston's Acclamation, a distance-loving California-bred son of Unusual Heat, took command in the opening strides and never was seriously threatened in scoring a wire-to-wire victory in today's 38th running of the Grade I $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar Race Track.
July 22, 2011 -- LAS VEGAS, NV - Two of the biggest races this weekend take place on opposite sides of the country. The big race on Saturday at Saratoga is the $250,000 Grade I Coaching Club American Oaks while Del Mar features the $300,000 Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes. Here is a look at both of those races and what to expect in horse betting odds.
July 21, 2011 -- SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - A pair of stakes races - the Grade 3, $100,000 Schuylerville for 2-year-old fillies and the $75,000 James Marvin for older sprinters - grace the opening-day card as the 143rd meet gets underway Friday at Saratoga Race Course." The Schuylerville Stakes will be run as race 9 on the 10-race card, following the James Marvin, which drew an outstanding field of 11, featuring Grade 1 winners Gayego, Here Comes Ben, and Jersey Town. First race post time is 1 p.m.
