Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park

The Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup takes place this Saturday, September 29 from Belmont Park. An enormous purse of $1 million is on the line for three year olds willing to go 1 1/4 miles on Belmont's main track. The Gold Cup is the highlight of Belmont's Summer Meet and a good showing will undoubtedly look good ahead of the Breeders' Cup in November.


Eddie D Stakes at Santa Anita

Santa Anita re-opens this weekend for its autumn meet that culminates with the Breeders' Cup in November. Opening day will be highlighted by the Grade 3 Eddie D Stakes on September 28 - a race honoring legendary jockey Eddie Delahoussaye. Three year olds will be after their share of the $100,000 purse when they go 6 1/2 furlongs on Santa Anita's turf track.


Horse Racing Results - September 22nd & 23rd, 2012

It was a relatively slow weekend of graded stakes action but there was no shortage of thrilling action. A pair of $1 million races were contested as well as a Grade 2 and Grade 3 stakes. There were upsets, some bounce back performances and some terrific tune-up efforts ahead of the Breeders, Cup that will be run at Santa Anita in November. Let's take a look back at four of the races starting with the two $1 million stakes races at Parx.


Gallant Bloom Handicap (2012) at Belmont Park

Belmont Park in New York will be the scene of the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Handicap this Saturday, September 22. Fillies and mare three years old and upward will be after their share of the $200,000 purse when they race 6.5 furlongs on Belmont Park's main track.


Kent Stakes (2012) at Delaware Park

The Grade 3 Kent Stakes is on tap for this Saturday, September 22 from Delaware Park in Wilmington Delaware. $200,000 will be on the line Saturday when three year olds line up to go one and one eighth miles on Delaware Park's turf track.


Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing

Parx Racing in Philadelphia, PA is the scene of two $1 million stakes races this Saturday, September 22, the second being the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby. Three year olds will be after the enormous purse when they race one and one eighth miles on Parx's main dirt track.


Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing

The Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes comes our way from Parx Racing just outside of Philadelphia this Saturday, September 22. Three year old fillies will duke it out for the lucrative $1 million purse when they go one and one sixteenth miles on Parx's main track.

Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine

Woodbine Race Track in beautiful Toronto Ontario plays host to the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes this Sunday, September 16. Horses three years old and upward will be featured as they race 1 1/2 miles on Woodbine's turf track in search of their share of the healthy $500,000 purse.
