The Grade 1 Acorn Stakes takes place this Holiday Monday May 28th from Belmont Park as part of the undercard for the $750,000 Metropolitan Mile. Three year old fillies will race one mile around one turn for a $300,000 purse.
The 44th running of the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap is on tap for this Holiday Monday, May 28th from Belmont Park in New York. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be chasing their share of the $400,000 purse when they race 1 1/16 miles on Belmont's main track.
The Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap is on tap for this Monday, May 28th from Belmont Park. A very nice purse of $750,000 is on the line for three year olds willing to race one mile on Belmont Park's main dirt track.
The Belmont Stakes is the one Triple Crown race where longshots do very well as only two favorites have won the Belmont since Thunder Gulch won it in 1995.
Woodbine Racetrack's turf track will play host to the Connaught Cup Stakes this Sunday, May 27th. Horses four years old and upward will race seven furlongs in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.
The Grade 3 Eclipse Stakes is on tap for this Saturday May 26th from Woodbine Racetrack. Horses four years old and upward will be after their share of the $150,000 purse when they go 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine's all weather track.
The Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes comes our way this Saturday, May 26th from Belmont Park. $200,000 is on the line for fillies and mares three yards old and upward as they race 1 3/8 miles on Belmont's inner turf track.
The Grade 2 American Handicap comes our way this Saturday, May 26th from Betfair Hollywood Park. $150,000 is on the line for horses three years old and upward willing to race one mile on Hollywood Park's turf track.
The stage is set for what could be a historic race in three weeks at Belmont Park in the Belmont Stakes. I'll have Another has a chance to do what hasn't been done since 1978 and has only been done 11 times is history - win the Triple Crown. In the afternoon on June 9th in New York, I'll Have Another has a chance to join the likes of Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed in infamy!
First of all - what a race! Second of all - is it conceivable that anyone can slow down I'll Have Another? The Preakness, like the Kentucky Derby, came down to a two horse race and like the Derby the slight underdog overtook the favorite en route to his second win in a row toward the Triple Crown.
