Albahr (GB)
Godolphin's homebred 2-year-old colt Albahr (GB) seeks to become trainer Charlie Appleby's third winner in nine years in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) and his owner-breeder Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's fourth in the race following victories by Godolphin's Line of Duty (IRE) and Outstrip (GB) - both trained by Appleby - as well as Donativum (GB) (trained by John Gosden), who was co-owned by the Dubai ruler's Darley Stable.
An earner of $235,181, the son of Dubawi has won four of five starts and was third once. His "Win and You're In" victory in the Summer Stakes (G1) Sept. 19 at Woodbine by 2¼ lengths stamped him as one of the favorites for the Juvenile Turf and was his second consecutive stakes victory after taking Salisbury's Stonehenge Stakes (Listed) Aug. 20.
A grandson of prolific sire and 2000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) third Street Cry (IRE), Albahr is a half-brother to Cascadian (GB), one of Australia's top milers and winner of April's rich Doncaster Mile (G1) at Randwick. Cascadian has placed in four other Group 1s Down Under for Godolphin and James Cummings.
Albahr's dam, Falls of Lora (IRE), won the UAE Oaks (G3) at Meydan and is a half-sister to 2000 Guineas (G1) runner-up Master of the Seas (IRE).
Dubawi has had 10 Breeders' Cup starters, with his lone success being another chestnut trained by Appleby for Godolphin, Wuheida (GB) - coincidentally over the Del Mar turf course in 2017. His Wild Illusion (GB) was second in the 2018 Maker's Mark Filly & Mare Turf (G1) and Lord North (IRE) was a good fourth in last year's Longines Turf (G1).

About the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf
The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf is an American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old horses, run on a grass course at a distance of one mile. It is part of the Breeders' Cup thoroughbred championships, the de facto year-end championship for North American thoroughbred racing. All Breeders' Cups to date have been conducted in the United States, with the exception of the 1996 event in Canada.
The Juvenile Turf was run for the first time in 2007 during the first day of the expanded Breeders' Cup at host track, Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey. The race received Grade II status in 2009.[1] The American Graded Stakes Committee further upgraded the race to Grade I status for 2011
